Why did you leave out the ever important part of the two men informing the barista that they were waiting on a friend that chose that location to meet and they gentleman that they were waiting on showed up just as they were getting cuffed?
Because that seems irrelevant to the actions of the officers does it not?

Laugh all you want. But the man in the video was a man meeting them there.

I love it when people make everything political

It was made political when the racism allegations started flying.

Nothing can be done.

So much of what you said is wrong

You might want to read the story that was posted
quote:

“Why would they be asked to leave?” Yaffe asks, adding that the men were waiting for him. “I wanted to get coffee for two black guys sitting and meeting with me,” he tells the officer. “Does anybody else think this is ridiculous?” he asks other patrons in the shop. A woman agrees. “It’s absolutely discrimination,” Yaffe adds. He says he and the men can go elsewhere to meet. An officer says it’s too late for that, because the two sitting men had previously declined to leave. The video ends as the officers arrest the men and leading them out of the coffee shop.

When was the last time you saw the right hold a protest? Or cry to congress to pass new laws and regulations?

also one of the reasons these situations end up getting blown out of proportion by the media and such.

I'm sure that LEO would rather it not be necessary. When the 2 refused to leave at the request of the first unit on the scene, it moves in a somewhat structured way after that. The place is there for commerce, not a shelter. Order or leave.

It is funny how the cop lovers will blindly defend anything the scared cops do.

It's almost as funny as when people jump in a thread and start posting without reading it.

I have read it

Which is why I can confidently say a lot of what you said is completely wrong

1. They weren't let go for "lack of evidence" They were let go because Starbucks informed the officers they did not want to press charges

2. They won't get paid shite

Really?
The officers had already taken them downtown. If they told the officers they did not want to press charges, they would have been released right then and there.
Anyway,
quote:

She said authorities were considering a charge of “defiant trespass.” Wimmer, representing both men pro bono, contacted authorities. She added, “I received a call at 12:30 a.m. (Friday) from the D.A.’s office that they were letting them go.” She would not disclose their identities. They were released “because of lack of evidence” that a crime had been committed,

. They won't get paid shite

We shall see

You can’t just sit in a coffee shop and not order anything. It doesn’t help that these guys were dressed like they are hanging out on a corner.

People do this all the time and the guys are dressed just fine.

Yes really. They article you just quoted was written by. 3rd grader. Go listen to the actual police chiefs statement

quote:

After officers transported the men to be processed, they discovered that Starbucks was no longer interested in pressing charges. The men were then released.

So why should these 2 real estate tycoons be treated any different?

Despite what anyone in this thread can come up with, there is no evidence, or even a hint, that 8 cops were needed to handle this situation. I do not, in any way, think the cops were in the wrong though. Hence the reason I used "excessive" and not "wrong" to describe their actions.

Again, smarter cops will solve more issues without incident than more cops for 90% of the occurrences. Obviously, there are times where more cops and force are needed, but the mindset that "more cops are always needed" is just insane.

Actually, it is you who can provide zero evidence that 8 officers were excessive

The only proof we do have is 8 officers did work to make this a peaceful situation

Are you an idiot?

The police chief saying why the men were released is not a "cop backing up another cop"

Also, the police chief is blacker than the suspects. I only mention that because it likely matters to you

Actually, the fact that there are no charges for resisting arrests or assault proves it for me. These two idiots weren't violent in any way. They were just stupid.

Wrong. Prove to me the same result would have happened with 1-7 officers....

You can't. So once again, your statement that 8 officers were excessive has zero proof at all

All we know for certain is that 8 officers did lead to a peaceful arrest
