List the ones you consider worse.

It's important more so because it's recent in history.
Eventually it will be relegated to the footnote most mass genocides are relegated to.

Anti-Semitism is a good sign of mental illness. People like you need to direct your frustrations in life towards these conspiracies and target groups like the Jews. It's funny.

Numerically?
Hunnic casualties
Mongol casualties
Stalinist casualties
Khmer casualties
Maoist casualties
There are more.
It's top 10 though

Wonder how many people know about the Ottoman's genocide against he Armenians during WWI. It was a big deal but what the German's did 30 years later pushed it out of the spotlight.

If you're going to do your child's homework just homeschool her.

These figures include deaths from famine, disease, health, etc in addition to killings.
Nothing like the Holocaust, in scale and design, has been perpetrated in our modern history. The Khmer Rouge is closest.

so is subjective thinking, I'm not anti-semitic just because I look at things from an analytical perspective, I admit when I'm wrong, but I never take things for face value

It's uncanny how future genocides seem to crowd out past genocides, eh?
Not to discount them, but simply to show how consistently brutal humanity has been over the millennia.
As if it's anything new.

Solid list. But I think what set's the Holocaust apart is the sheer industrial scale and nature of it all. The German's literally built a massive industrial complex spanning a good chunk of central Europe for the sole purpose of slaughter. And let's not forget that while 6,000,000 Jews were killed they were far from alone. The total accepted number is close to 12,000,000 people when you add in all the other non-Jewish victims. The Germans also killed over 3,000,000 Soviet POW's on top of that. Considering that the German's did not start their large scale slaughter until mid-1941 and it lasted to only mid-1945, that means the Germans murdered something around 15,000,000 people in just 4 years. That averages out to the German's murdering over 10,000 people every single day for 4 solid years.

This is a normal thing. I had to teach the Holocaust to some 5th graders during my student teaching last semester and when I was in 4th grade I remember a whole month long unit on it.

Your 10 yr old shouldn't need to learn about the atrocities of the holocaust. What happened to real school teaching?

Would you expect Anything less than a magnificently engineered genocide from The Germans?

I am not too keen on this. I know history must be studied or it could be repeated, but this seems a little strong for a bunch of 10 year olds.
Why? It's really never too early to learn about the nature of humanity.

It was what I got my degree in.

It's sad how quickly we forget. We just reached the 20th anniversary of the Rwanda genocide where something like a million men, women, and children were killed (I believe mostly with machetes) in about a 3 month period.
