I believe it was one of the Pace Cars for a Nascar event (not that actual car). The manufacturers would make a limited number of them back them.

I remember it well. Did anybody get to tour the Freedom Train? It was pretty cool.

I was 19 and a freshman in college. There was lots of hoopla. Everything could be bought in Red,White and Blue, even caskets. Mostly about that summer I remember the Presidential campaign, Ford vs Reagan for the GOP nomination. I got the meet Reagan on a campaign stop

Movies I saw in '76-
Taxi Driver
Silent Movie
Rocky
Marathon Man
Network
Carrie
Family Plot
King Kong
Ages14 to 15, started (legally) driving that year.
For July Fourth we had a picnic at the house.
I found out the correlation between fish and women that year.

Who remembers the bicentennial year?

My brother and I both had red, white and blue wingtips. I'm sure they looked great under our bell bottoms.

The redesign of the quarter.
25 cents never looked so fine.

I had a whole set of 1976 uncirculated coins in a plastic display case. My dad got them for all of us.
Busted that thing open to buy something to eat my freshman year. Don't care because I saw someone selling it for $10.50 today.

It's hazy, but I remember it some. I wasn't 9. I was actually engaged.

I was 9 at the time also. We moved to LaPlace that year, I believe. During the day, I heard some noise coming from the street when I was inside our house after eating lunch. Next thing I knew, one of my parents was calling me to come to the door.
A freaking parade was passing down our street Mardi Gras-style. Not one of our neighbors knew this parade was organized either. People were tossing beads and doubloons. Made my way down the driveway and remember my dad telling me to say "Throw me something mister!" and having to chase doubloons rolling on the driveway.
I have a vague memory of the floats but I believe I remember one pulled by a tractor and there was a guy on the float that was dressed up as either Uncle Sam or Santa in a red, white and blue suit
Here are some photos my dad took:

I remember visiting the train. I was 10.
ETA: I didn't actually remember it by the name "American Freedom Train" - I just recall the "bicentennial train" and it is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear "bicentennial."
