CB's are getting pretty powerful nowadays

I'm sure that has somethin' to do with it
How can an antenna, putting out UHF, magically transmit radar bands? Radar frequency is exponentially higher than UHF or VHF frequencies

Answer is....turn off X-band. There is no place in Louisiana where you need that, and frankly, you don't need it at all unless you are in the northeast

I'm sure Opelousas cops have more things to worry about than if you're speeding: namely rape, murder, armed robbery, the homeless issue, trying to get rid of that smell and other Opelousas stuff.
it was actually in lafayette. the reason why I bought the detector was to keep from having to have an encouter with a lafayette cop that is powered by tapout.

V1 is amazing but it's soooo sensitive. Guess that's a good thing.

<--- truck driver here.
The item that is setting off your radar guns is one of two things:
A) Following distance sensor - these are becoming more common with the big carriers like Swift, KLLM, Schneider. Its a little black box mounted on the front fender that monitors the feet from the front of the truck to the bumper of the vehicle in front. When the cruise control is on, it will automatically adjust the speed of the truck to keep a safe distance, usually about 4 seconds.
B) Camera sensor. A lot of companies are testing these out as well, including AG in Baton Rouge. This is a sensor that will activate a camera mounted on the dash that record 5 seconds prior and 5 seconds after an event occurs such as someone cutting off the driver or following too close to someone. Video evidence to use in court if a collision happens.
Thats whats setting them off, not the prepass or cb's. Prepass is a remote transponder that has been in use for a decade, doesnt use radar technology, and is in use for approx 1 second when passing under the white box sensors mounted 20' over interstates. The CB is just a laughable guess.

quote:You can get apps on smart phones that do exactly this. One is called Daily Roads Voyager, and it uses the gyro in your phone. Basically records all of the time, and deletes anything from 15 seconds before, but when something jolts the phone, it saves those recordings
