Yeah but they've regressed from pyramid building to shingle removal.

Darth, when I was a kid I wanted to draw or paint battle scenes for a living. I was (and have always been) fascinated with battle art, especially Civil War paintings.

But that dream went up in smoke when I realized that today we just use photography.

One of Winnfield Scott's staff officers on that march was one Robert Edward Lee.

They've just adapted. Shingles are more useful than pyramids.

There's still a market out there for good military paintings. There's one artist who is like the Daniel Moore of Civil War art and is making a killing. I'm trying to remember the guy's name but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Polk baited the dumb Mexicans into starting a war that he wanted. He had promises to keep.

His name is Don Troiani. You should check out Dale Gallon, too.

Oh blah, blah, blah.

It was about expansion, plain and simple.

The US wanted to get to the Pacific. They offered Mexico a nice sum of money for it. Mexico didn't accept it.

With the territorial acquisitions under Polk of the Mexican lands and the resolution of the territorial disputes in the Pacific NW, our country's future as a two ocean state was secured.

If I'm remembering correctly, Troiani's panting's are (or were) in just about every army mess hall I ever went into.

Wouldn't even meet with Slidell to discuss it.

The Mexicans were still melting over Texas, a land that they were barely able to govern and where nobody from Mexico wanted to live.

That reminds me of someone on the PT board saying that if Mexicans would've fought harder in the Spanish-American war, they wouldn't have lost all their land to us.
