Why bother helping Haiti? It’s a dump and it won’t ever get better. Would rather us invest in urban areas here. At least maybe some kids would make it out of there if so. But then again… hard to embezzle funds in the U.S.

Send in a special ops unit, rescue our people, kill anyone who gets in the way, and tell Haiti that until they get that shithole cleaned up that they will never get another dime of foreign aid (they should get any regardless, but that isn't the point).
If I was president, one thing that would be abundantly clear is that Americans abroad will not be fricked with and if they are, I would be willing to kill anything that moves to get our people home.
That does not apply if we have stupid people who go overseas and act like assholes committing crimes and all that. But Americans who are overseas on aid missions, etc... will be protected.

Prayers sent. I don’t know how to deal with this as a Christian other than to just have faith. I hate that our good people go down to that place to try and make a difference and get kidnapped for their troubles.

Some Mennonite missionaries from WI were killed in a plane crash down there earlier this year.
Going to Haiti is bad enough. Flying on a Haitian plane is peak stupidity.
