oh do you know very little the federal government deals in drugs. Unless there is a large amount of money involved they don't care.

Maybe. But that is outside of my control and the control of those currently in prison.

Yes but we are talking societal problems not individual problems.

The discussion was on a level of more than just individual control

Society is comprised of individuals. As long as dumbasses keep listening to the excuses presented in the OP, nothing will improve.

The Third Leg

White privelage is just another way for incompetent cowards to scapegoat their failures in life. I can say, with 100% certainty, if you are bitching about white privilege, it's because you are ashamed of your own failures, yet you refuse to take accountability for your actions.

Here's a novel idea. (and third leg, take note)

When you stop blaming people for your own mistakes, you can actually begin to grow and succeed.

Tell me, how many owners of successful businesses got to where they are today by blaming "white people" for their own problems. (excluding Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, race pimps).

How many people have excelled in life by not taking responsibility and learning from their mistakes?

I know why they were created, and I agree with you entirely.

To circle back a few pages ITT, just because something fixes a problem doesn't render it a quality mechanism of justice. All too often, new problems arise in the wake of the death of the old problems. Collateral consequence.

Go back to stop and frisks, ostensibly to root out gun violence. Is it ok to scrap the Fourth Amendment to preserve the Second Amendment?

Now this is a more logical, intelligent argument than "don't do no crime, won't be no crime."

but you can still take what i said and apply it there

if you know crack carries harsher sentencing, then you understand that you're assuming a larger risk if you do deal crack

as for the article, some of these are absurd and simply just not true, like #1

quote:

Because of white privilege, you’ll never have to worry about becoming the victim of law enforcement officers.

we have almost weekly threads on here about overzealous SWAT teams breaking into people's homes and a white person ends up being shot or killed (sometimes the cop, sometimes the property owner)

quote:

Thankfully, you’ll never have to know what it feels like to see your teenage son’s death being mocked.

this has no bearing on a larger point and ironically only became a big story b/c of race pimps making it about race

quote:

Because of white privilege, you’ll never have to inform your children of the harsh realities of systemic racism.

since this whole "white privilege" concept is mainly an argument of upper class white people, this is simply wrong

quote:

Because of white privilege, you’ll never know what it’s like to have the following statistic looming over your head.According to this report , one-third of black men will go to prison at least once in their lifetime.

that's not any sort of privilege and assumes that there isn't some gap of culture

quote:

You can wear and act however you’d like without being labeled a thug, low life, gangster, etc.

while this assumes there is a difference in culture (and ignorantly and incorrectly assumes the biebster isn't criticized for his eccentriciies and absurdities)

quote:

White privilege means not having to worry about your hair, skin color, or cultural accessories as the reason you didn’t get a job.

here we go again. there is not a difference in culture...unless we want t here to be a difference

quote:

White privilege allows you to speak on any particular subject without being the sole representative for your entire race.

what was the justin bieber example, again?

etc etc

what does the 2nd amendment have to do anything in your example?

yes but that doesn't mean the poster who oversimplified the entire problem to that sound bite understands how to apply it there.

The poster I'm referring to just parrots talking points like he was on a 24 hour news channel. I have no faith he had some deeper understanding of the issue and was simplifying it just because we are on a message board.

yeah some of the list is not to be taken seriously, but there is some nuggets of truth in there.

Crack is whack though, forreal. I think the harsher sentences on it had as much to do with how easily it permeated our culture. Coke remained a wealthy person drug, while crack could be afforded by middle schoolers with lunch money.

I agree, they are unequal and ridiculous and the late eighties set black people back 20 years, but can't blame ALL of the crack legislation on it being used by mainly black people. It was also trying to prevent it from spreading even more. Easier to get and MUCH easier to afford and more addictive. Not good.

Well, for starters we have the largest incarcerated population of human life in the history of civilization. Yay!

Stop and frisk was sold as a deterrent to concealed weaponry, mainly guns. Much like sentencing disparities were sold as a deterrent to violent crime.

What have I said that is a false narrative?

If you want to go person to person and decide things that is up to you.

Obviously though, our society is trying to address problems like drug use is on a societal level.

Whether through, punishment, rehab, prevention, etc etc society is addressing the issue at a larger level than you are.

Just because you disagree with it, doesn't make it a false narrative.

Also, who calls Nikki Minaj the Black Lady Gaga?

I have quite literally never heard that before

yep, its absurd. There are millions of people in jail for drug crimes in which they were a user, not a dealer or manufacturer. That is ridiculous.

How many guns were taken off the street as a result? Honestly curious.

You've implied that harsh drug sentencing is the reason black have a high incarceration rate. That is nonsense.

You can think I'm some sort of failure. I assure you I am not.

If I got into trouble with narcotic possession, I would compensate a lawyer handsomely to get me out of my problem. That would be my way of being held accountable.
