Really? Because last time I checked, I keep a closer eyeball on the cameras when a 'thug' white guy walks into the store. When a normally dressed black guy/lady walks into the store I don't even pay much attention to it at all. Actually that goes for most people I know taht own a convenience store, in New Orleans. Even though majority of the demographics we deal with are darker skinned, the people that we keep an eye on are the ones that look like they'll cause trouble, black, white, asian, etc. Being a hood rat isn't only for blacks, just like being a respectable persona isn't only for whites.
People LOVE to take one extreme circumstance and turn it around. Where's the hate for the black kids that inexplicably killed the white kid who was lost in a ghetto neighborhood, sitting in his car in a parking lot.
Oh wait, we were too busy dealing with the 'white guy' Zimmerman and Martin case to even bring it up.
That white kid must have had it coming though right? Should have known not to trot into ghetto neighborhoods and be a light pigmented fellow.

I highly doubt that a Professor of Criminal Justice at Michigan State, who has a J.D. From Tennessee and a PhD from UCONN, along with several publications, published fabricated events for a piece in a respected publication like The Atlantic.
I also doubt that a Caucasian white collar businessman in Manhattan would allow it to happen without anyone hearing about it.

If a white person is convicted of having crack, does he get the same sentence as a black person? If a black person is convicted of having powder cocaine, does he get the same sentence as a white person? If so, your point is pointless.

Sure. Why aren't they both met with similar force, considering crack cannot exist without cocaine, which the government rates as an equally harmful substance?
Is all of that cocaine coming here being turned into crack? This is the most prolific land of cocaine consumption in the world's history.

No, you did not. And nobody said anyone personally did. The issues are systemic. Laws are not really being applied evenly.
It's not like I'm sitting here acting like blacks are being stoned by everyone in public. These are all subtle nuances in a clusterfrick of a system.

I always thought of it as:
It is vastly easier to catch the black guy than it is a white guy. More or less because one race tends to be blatantly obvious they're on something.
Not even racial profiling, I've seen enough people something in the store, out in public settings, and majority of the time...its black. Doesn't help the stats that majority of NOLA is 60% black; 30% white; 10% other. Hell, Asians only make up 3% of the NOLA population.
ETA: I'm curious, what's the arrest rate on DUI/DWI... White > Black?
