One year ago today, I took a shower after cleaning up the house from a great Thanksgiving meal with the family. My cousin who had survived stage 3 testicular cancer was there and we talked about it. After my shower, I performed a self exam and dropped to my knees with pain.
I made an appointment the next day. My GP told me it was a cyst, but I got an ultrasound and made and appointment with a urologist to be sure. It was then on December 18 that the urologist told me it was cancer. I had surgery to remove my right testical the next morning.
It turns out I caught it at stage 1, and the surgery was the only treatment I would need. I got another blood test done last week and am still cancer free.
Men testicular cancer is one of the easiest cancers to treat and is very beatable when caught early. Please check yourself regularly and if you find something, DO NOT keep it to yourself. Happy Thansgiving!
TLDR: I had cancer and beat it. Check yourself regularly.

31? Holy smokes. Glad you caught it early. Do you have family history with mom, dad, grandparents with cancer?

Nope. All of my people die of old age or treachery. The cousin in my story is not blood related to me. (Long story) Apparently, I'm the first one with cancer that we know of.

How do you check yourself? Just lightly squeeze your nuts and see if it hurts more than normal? Congrats on getting it into remission!

I'll have to do it tomorrow, in case there is something there I don't want to ruin my thanksgiving. I did just feel my nuts though and they seem normal so at least there is that.
