Did you even read my post(s) about this very topic? And if so did you understand them?
When we had to go straight up Oline (with 4th string tackle) vs Dline with them, we got handled. When we stuck to our game plan, they played fine.
I didn't say they didn't get out played, I only said they weren't "shite" as so many people proclaimed them to be today.

okay Rusty, why did we lose?
forgive any of us who vented some frustration on this board..
jesus christ...
we didn't run the ball that well. don't try and tell me we did either. if we had run the ball as well as you try and make it out to be, we would have won probably. The D-line didn't get much pressure on the QB. I did think our defense played the run better than I thought they would. I thought the defense played pretty well considering how the actual scoring went down. Drew Brees isn't above criticism and his pick before the half was a back breaker. This loss fricking sucks and I'm right there with you in sharing the bitterness of defeat.

It sounds like you are just being overly defensive about the word usage that posters have been using. Yeah they may not have been "shite" but they did not play well. And yeah it may not all be on Brees but if you throw 2 pick 6's you have to shoulder some of the blame. That's just how it is.

Me too. It was a tough game, things didn't go our way, sometimes in horribly bad ways. It happens. The O Line is not shite, the Defense is not horrible (or at least they weren't tonight), this loss isn't solely Brees' fault, and he isn't "forcing" throws.

Perfectly reasonable assessment. If this is your position, I'm right there with you, but that's not what a lot of people have been posting here.

Honestly:
It 100% no doubt absolutely was in the second half
anyone who said that is dumb as frick. They out played out offense today
1st sentence true, next 2 sentences false.
Drew is a great quarter back. Future HOF, record breaking, superbowl MVP winning QB. But he does some fricking incredibly stupid arse shite sometimes. For instance: We take the lead with a minute to go in the half and he decides to try and squeeze one into triple coverage in the middle of the field for no reason at all. We had timeouts left, we had downs left, we had clock left. That was fricking stupid. Deal with it.
Every season Drew had one game where he literally throws the game away. This was that game. No one is happy about it, but it shouldnt be sugar coated. You can damn well believe Drew blames himself for this loss. And he will come out and assrape atlanta to make up for it.

As for the O Line, I apparently have a difference in opinion with a lot of people here. I feel like they were put in an unwinnable position against a physically superior opponent in the second half. That's a byproduct of things which were beyond their control and they predictably failed. Don't think they "played like shite", but rather they were outplayed in a situation which they shouldn't have been in. Semantics I guess, but it gets old seeing people post dumb crap like that.

It almost seems you are making excuses for the line. I don't get it. Obviously you don't want them to be in a position where you are down by 14, but it happens. You can't just let guys run past you in those situations. Nothing is perfect. You will get in holes, but damn, at least stop the other team somewhat. Keep in mind at the end of the first half the niners d started getting more pressure, so its not like they only started to play bad whenever the niners took the lead.

I don't recall the O line struggling at the end of the first half, but perhaps I am mistaken.
In my opinion the Saints were executing a well thought out game plan, and it was working, up until all hell broke loose, then someone made the decision to switch to the default "let Brees throw it" strategy, and no one played well once that happened because the 9ers defense is way to good to just 'wing it.
The end result was we got our asses kicked in the second half, but I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment that it was because the O Line was shite.

Atlanta is so fricked next week. Brees will be as focused and on target as he's ever been. I haven't been over there lately, but I bet 10 bucks that there's a discussion on the falcons board talking about how the saints were "exposed" tonight.
