Do you think that this was the Saints of old? Start off slow, and look like garbage, but start to play in the 4th quarter pulling off some miracle win against a lesser opponent?

Or, did we over-hype ourselves by saying on paper we looked like SB contenders or at least playoffs and then falling flat?

Or lastly, is it just rust that will be shaken off in time for next week against the Bucs?

We had no film on the Falcons, & they had film on us. The coaches figured it out in the 4th quarter.

I'm honestly not sure, but I do think some of it had to do with the Saints resting tons of players during preseason while the Falcons played all their starters throughout.

They felt more game ready than us.

It's week 1. There are always some strange results that people overreact to. The Saints destroyed Green Bay last year in a "neutral" site. The Packers then won 8 of their next 9 games en route to the #1 seed in the NFC. The Saints were blown out by a bad Carolina team the next week.

This is the first time the staffs, for all teams, have gotten to see their teams play in a meaningful game this season. Arguably the biggest set of adjustments occur between week 1 and week 2 because now the coaches/players have a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

The Saints were dominated in all phases for 3/4ths of the game...only to steal a win. You still know there is a ton of room for improvement, but it is GREAT to be able to do so after a win.
