There could have been a bidding war for him this offseason.

With our aging roster and salary cap, probably for the best DA stays. Saints would have been the ugliest girl on the Bachelor this year.

one less year on his contract lessens the value of a return a bit imo. it was still a matter of payton finding a fit and then semi friendly negotiations from there. The person who got fricked was payton himself. He could have had patriots, chargers, frick even seattle.

This is never true under any circumstances whatsoever in any scenario.

It is if DA is gone after next season instead of getting a new coach next year that is terrible because we had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Not a fan of DA at all but want what’s going to get things turned around for the team the soonest.

Then hire a coach to come in and turn things around. We know Allen is a dumpster fire. It’s not like a limited set of capable coaches are released every year. Coaches are either right for the situation or they are not. So go find the right coach for the situation.

Allen is not a “dumpster fire”. He’s not what we need but this board has gotten crazy lately

With Belichick, Harbaugh, and a lesser existent Vrabel and Carroll on the market he'd be less attractive than he was last year.

Bidding war. At the time didn’t Gayle say something like she wouldn’t impede Payton leaving by making teams give saints draft picks for him.

There’s no “bidding war” for a coach as far as draft picks. He picks where he wants to go then the new team and old team negotiate compensation.

The FO has a plan but the chicken littles are going to keep squawking like a bunch of women for months

They already met with Gruden when they were in Tampa. He elevates the offense and if there continues to be a rift between DA and the players, he takes over after next season—no Rooney rule needed

How do you know that is their plan?

So Loomis knows there is a rift and is hiring gruden to take over?

Dumbest shite I've seen on here in a while.

They are probably bringing gruden on to help with the offense and Carr. That's it.
