they went up against AP and frank gore the first two games...they were on the field 75% of the game against Michael Turner. The run D hasn't been outstanding, but it's not the weakest spot right now. We've shown flashes of good run D.

hobbled Drew Brees + hobbled Pierre Thomas = game winning FG on first down.
I don't like it as much as anyone else but he was protecting two of his most important players on offense from getting a worse injury.

It was absolutely the correct call to make. Why waste more time in overtime? Why take any risk? It was a chip shot.

chip shot.
I think that's bullshite. Last I checked, TEs don't kick field goals. Professional kickers of footballs kick field goals. That shite should be like fishing with a Howitzer.

That was a horrible pass interference call.
Thats fine but don't blame the refs for the loss. I would be more worried about Atlanta ripping through our D-line.

I would have kept rollin toward the end zone.

That game reminded me of the Saints of old -- shoulda, woulda, coulda. Can't get off the field on 3rd down. Can't cover the obvious TE on 3rd & long. Crucial penalties and turnovers, yada yada yada.
I disagreed heartily with the plan to kick the FG on 1st down. Your best player is on the money and driving the team down the field. Let your best player win the game.
Hint: the best player is named Brees.

The Saints lost for one reason... They wore the black pants at home. Since last season they are 1-4 in the black pants in the dome... STOP WEARING THEM AT HOME!

Oh, I agree. It should never have come to that call. But it was a bad call. Not an excuse.

The field goal was absolutely the percentage call from that distance. It's overtime. A win by 3 is as good as a win by 6. What are you going to do? Throw to the end zone? If you run a couple of plays and gain a few yards, it shouldn't make a difference field goal wise. It was the right call under the circumstances, and most of the good coaches in the league would agree. Hartley, unfortunately, just missed.
ETA: My wife and I named the stray dog we adopted last February "Hartley". Now I have to tell people it's a family name we decided to use.

If YOU think the refs cost the Saints the game you are a dipshit.

Should we have Brees do kicks and punt returns, too?

No, just do what he does best, which is get the ball to receivers and make TDs.

quote:You are inbred redneck that takes up for refs every time someone brings up a shite call. Did that one call cost the Saints the game? No. Did it help the Falcons win it? Yes. It was a bullshite call from a ref 30 yards away when there was a ref standing 5 yards from the play.
