I think it comes down to the General Manager hire. We were crap for decades until the hiring of Jim Finks. We have yet to find his equal. We were fortunate to land Brees, who proved to be a good match with Payton. But our drafts are forgettable, we've been in salary cap hell, defensive coordinators come here to die, and the bounty gate was head scratching.

I would suggest Doug Marrone. He was a former OC under Payton and had good success as a head coach.

16-17 record as a hc is good success?

Free agency this offseason will determine the fate of this regime.

A lot of young talent. Really good drafting at WR. A strong OG can make us without a hole on offense.

The team has been a lot better on defense lately with devastating CB injuries. Make a jump this offseason with a CB, DE, and hopefully LB and u have to like how the team looks for 2017.

What's the list of hot coaches/coordinators? No more retreads. I can't think of a single college coach that would excite our fan base short of Urban Meyer or maybe Harbaugh returning to the NFL, which ain't happening.

Dave Toub Kansas city chiefs special teams coach. He reminds me of a little John Madden. But I also like offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. The name fits in new Orleans and would be great for Hard Knocks.

Be careful watch you wish for. Once Brees ages out we could be headed back closer to Cleveland than 8-8.

If they don't make the playoffs I don't really care if they go 3-13 or 8-8. I'll watch either way but it's not like saying "the days of 8-8 could be over" is a big deal.

From Fletcher Mackel

If Sean Payton leaves NOLA.

Guys I think could be 1-4 on
Loomis' list:

1. Dennis Allen
2. Doug Marrone
3. Mike Riley
4. Jim Shwartz

Yep, huge gamble at guessing who is going to be even decent at a head coaching job. Most fail, people need to realize that...
