Mike Mauti

Just curious if yall think he'd be a good pick for the 3-4 defense

Any chance he's still on the board when we pick?

quote:

Mauti is the third member of his family to play at Penn State, though his father, Rich (1975-76), and brother, Patrick (2005-09) played wide receiver for Joe Paterno. Rich played seven seasons in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins (totaling 21 catches for 314 yards and two touchdowns and averaging 8.1 yards per punt return, 22.8 on kickoffs), and Michael could very well have a solid NFL career, as well -– if he can stay healthy.

if it's been discussed just give me a summary and tell me to GTFO and I'll take my ball and go home

Id be against picking him. The kids knees are shot. I wouldnt be surprised if he plays one yr to accomplish his dream of playing in the nfl and then hangs it up. The guy wont be able to walk by the time he turns 30.

He has come back better after each knee surgery. I know the injury makes you more susceptible to tear it again once it happens, but the last 2 were illegal chop blocks. It happens. And he will definitely play more than 1 year haha. The kid is an absolute animal in the weight room. He will have a great career whether he develops into a full time starter in time, or is just a special teams contributor. Would love to get him if we could get a 7th, not sure that ILB with injury concerns is a big enough need in the 6th though. He will definitely get drafted though so no shot at UDFA.

I mentioned him in an earlier post. I would like to see him come on board with the Saints as a FA. I don't believe he gets drafted.

I played with him in high school. Actually I like to say he played under me because he was a freshman and played on the freshman team instead of varsity
Dude isn't looking to just play one year and call it quits. He has a passion for the game. And two of his injuries were kinda freak accidents/ dirty plays.

I played against his brother while in high school. He's definitely the better of the two.

I just laughed so hard. If you know them (especially in high school) understatement of the century.

The older brother wasn't anything special. MHS was horrible when he played.

I played with both of them. Mike's a class act. Patrick is a tool, his senior year at QB he had more interceptions than completions.

Covington game was particularly painful.

Patrick proceeded Brandon Ledet didn't he? That was another tool. He tried to strong arm his way into being the starting qb at FHS but when he wasn't promised the spot (would have to compete), he went to MHS.

It worked out ok for little Ledet at FHS. Who ironically in junior high started over Mike.
