you should all read the article instead of just agreeing. he makes a valid point really.
This is the line (I suppose where he's supposedly making the crux of his "point"), though, that I have the most problem with:

That's a truth many of you can't handle. It makes you uncomfortable. You don't even get what I'm really saying. All of us -- white, black and brown -- get so caught up in our stereotypes that we oftentimes miss what is right in front of us.
Who the frick are the "all of us" who are "getting caught up in our sterotypes"? I never even gave such a thing a second of consideration.
The dick needs to speak for himself, instead of trumpeting what he thinks "everyone" thinks.

yeah because he's pissed just like I am that no one is calling Manning a sorry piece of shite for walking off the field like they did to Lebron. Did either HAVE to shake hands? No. Are either really pieces of shite? No. Then why was Lebron dragged through the mud but no one really gave a frick that Manning did the same thing?

What does this have to do with Tracy Porter being black??

I did. I think it showed a lack of class. He's a professional, should act like one.

jesus christ. the guy was making a point. he was saying he was going to write this because he was so pissed that it was obvious that the media didn't dog Manning because he's white and Lebron is black. And I agree, that is why the media didn't hammer Manning for what he did.

i think anyone black, white or otherwise reading this will think, "what a dick, taking any set of circumstances to fit his 'everyone's a racist' worldview. I mean damn, how long you gonna beat that dead horse? :beatdeadhorse:

this never even crossed my mind. I saw Saints and Colts.

yeah and when i read writers like Whitlock i don't see black or white, i see media douchebag

Exactly. I watched the whole game and never gave ANYONE'S race a second of consideration.
Of course, I suppose I don't have the ability to peer inside my own soul as much as this Whitlock guy does, so I'm sure deep down there was some sort of ingrained racial "sterotypes" at work subconsciously fueling whatever emotions I was feeling.

Walking 20 feet across a basketball court and walking 30 yards across a football field, through media, security, 100 other players, family and people trying to set up a stage, after the SUPERBOWL are two different things.

really what I was getting at is I can see him being angry that Lebron was labeled a sore loser douche for not shaking hands and Manning was a classy guy who didn't want to take away from the Saints spotlight. In the long run, I doubt Dwight or Brees gave a frick if either loser shook their hands.

give me a fricking break. Either it was a douche move by both or not. How come you see it in every other Super Bowl?

I don't feel as though it was a clear cut white vs. black issue. There were a lot of other variables other than just skin color.
ETA: Don't get me wrong though, I think it was in poor taste for both. But that still doesn't make them equal.

As someone said, I think the visability differences between those two "incidents" are much more of a factor.
Is there actual footage of Peyton "slighting" Brees? If there is, I haven't seen it.

what evidence is there going to be? he just walked off. there was no evidence of lebron slighting howard...

I think there were a lot of people who got pissed at LeBron the NEXT day when he basically said he is a sore loser (which, by the way, is not that big of a fault for a superstar). If Peyton comes out and says what LeBron says, it would be different.
Peyton's PR people>>>>>>>>>>>>>LeBron's PR people.

There is a still picture of Manning walking to the locker room while the Saints were in Victory formation. The Colts locker room was on the opposite side of the end zone Brees and the Saints were in. In my opinion, Manning could have easily made it to Brees after he knelt down, and still got the frick out of dodge.

I don't really give a frick either way. Peyton cost his team the game basically and he'll have the memory of being turned to bitch during Porter's return haunt him forever.

The race card never entered my mind until i read that article, sometimes racism wont die because some people want to keep it alive as a crutch, just an opinion

Right. Who the frick is watching the game thinking about this sort of stuff? Worse yet, why is some dick watching the game assuming everybody else watching the game is indeed obsessed with this?
It's like, well if we keep saying it enough, it's got to be how it is.
frick him! Seriously, frick Him!
