What will Andrus Peat be worth when time comes to resign him?

And I obviously say this assuming that we do resign him. Is he someone we want to give 7-9mil a year (could be more if he has a great year) to considering what he are already paying our other guard and center (9mil and 8mil, respectively) ?

Would be tough swallowing the fact that we could have potentially 26ish mil tied into our interior oline. Obviously it depends on if Unger sticks around. We could spend a 3rd on a center next year potentially.

Unger is replaceable at this point, so you pay Peat!

A lot

This is why to me it's crucial we replace Unger with a player on a rookie deal

Insert pipe dream: Clapp magically turns into pro-bowl level center, and we roll with him on cheap rookie pay to the next year's and our third Superbowl.

Frees up space to pay everyone else.

We already have Unger’s replacement on the roster, Cameron Tom.

No worries.

This is pretty close to the truth. Unger is awesome and I love him but Peat has turned out to be a mauler at guard. This is coming from a dude who smashed his beer against the wall when we drafted Peat.

I wasn't too mad at drafting Peat, just really stunned.

I wasn’t mad either, considering we thought he was good enough to possibly be a franchise tackle. Had we drafted him as a guard like he’s turned out to be, I would have been upset

I didn't and you can go check the draft threads on that.

I've been pounding that we needed Oline for years. Quit fricking around with Bushrods at LT and UDFAs at C and get some real talent at the two most important Oline spots.

I was happy we started grabbing up Oline early and often, and it's paid off in spades. I was fine with Oline in the first this year had we stayed put. That G (forgetting his name) who's a mauler would have been a great pick.

Then you could shift Peat to LT and jettison Armstead's contract. Too much for an always hurt player.

This was like LB, only we still haven't hit LB hard enough in the draft, choosing to go the FA route there. That's okay, but even if you hit on the signings you are talking about older, more expensive players.

Don't care. He was solid but he had huge flaws that crept up at some of the worst times. We had to give him help all game against certain players because he couldn't even hold his own half the time against them.

Peat has played better at LT than he ever has.

And yeah I know everyone is looking for more than just solid at LT, and for a 4th rounder it was a very good pick. But that's why I wanted us to start drafting Oline in the first and second because Brees with time is the deadliest player in the league, and Bushrod didn't often give him time.
