re: We're in a better leverage position for Sean Payton trade than people realize IMO...

Well Mickey publicly stated he gets it. Whether he follows through on those comments??

Doug Peterson is helping us out too with Jacksonville. He’s showing what a SB winning coach can do for a depleted program.

The problem is, Loomis is the one making the deal. He’s going to see ONE 1st round pick and drool so much that he loses leverage for 2 or many picks in multiple rounds. He isn’t patient enough to create a bidding war.
And Sean is his friend, so he won’t be able to separate that from the business of making the best deal with only the Saints in mind.
The problem is yall just make shite up and pass it off as fact.

Yes, I don’t know this for certain. But, what I do know is that they have nearly a 20 year friendship. You would be a fool to think that FACT plays ZERO part in Loomis’ decision making when it comes to one of his best friends.

If they get destroyed in the first round and immediate fire the coach, maybe. But it’s such a risk to immediately fire stayley and hope you land Sean Payton. If they fire him, they’re running off a coach who got them to the playoffs, and you’re hoping that you get someone better than that in there.
I’d bet money sufficient back channeling is being done with Payton’s agent, the Saints, and the Chargers

Saints have as many cards as Payton.
Not really. The saints want to move and get draft picks. They want this deal done also and it would be stupid to let him walk for nothing in two years

Absolutely agree. Obviously I don’t know this, but I would think the Chargers are his #1 choice.

Payton could say I only want to coach X team. And Saints say nope, not unless they give us what we want to make it work.
And Payton says “ok. I’m rich as frick. I’ll go dick around on TV for another year. Enjoy having no 1st round pick this year.”
Everyone has a certain amount of leverage here, but there’s no bidding war.

go with Arizona if they match the rumor that Denver will pay him $20-25 million a season.
I don't know why anyone is talking pay at this point. You still have to get his rights, then you have to be able to sign him.

Because if they have permission to talk to Payton they have already agreed to pay what the Saints are asking. The Saints wouldn't let him talk to a team that won't give them what they want in compensation.

They have the 49ers 1st rounder this year.
So...a very late 1 at best? Non-starter in negotiations. Not even close.
