Loomis will use next years picks as trade bait, knowing he has compensatory picks for next year.

Saints just started in FA, there is a good chance they lose most if not all of those comp picks. Wont' stop Loomis from those trades, he seems to like doing it 1-2 times per draft. But usually, he uses a future pick to package with a current pick and jump up a round, not to get an extra pick.
Ideally, they would actually trade down at some point in his tenure and grab some extra picks. Sitting at 29 would be a prime spot to drop to the top of the 2nd and grab 1-2 more picks. Teams covet that 5th year option and pay a little extra to move up. But he's more likely to find a way to get into the teens than he is to trade down.
