I have gained some new respect for David Vitter, he is putting his neck on the line for "the little guy".
Damn, he'll have this liberals vote....maybe.
I have zero respect for Vitter.

Can some explain how in any way Vitter has put his neck on the line? Nothing he has done has any ramifications for him other then gaining votes from the swelling Saints fan base.

He did say that if the NFL doesn't back down then he will create unlicensed shirts and distribute them which would be against the NFL's cease and desist ruling. The NFL could then take possible action against him...

he SAID he would...until he actually does it he has not stuck his neck out. Right now he is talking out of his arse for publicity. I really do not EVER expect to see the vitter t-shite company making who dat shirts. He is making idle threats to get publicity.

it's a good move on Vitter's part, period. C'mon guys, you may not like the guy, but both him and Melancon have a good point.
And...it should make you feel a smidge better that a politician actually had some sort of pulse on what was going on with the people.

No, you will forget about the Vitter T-shirt corporation in a few months and be left with a vague feeling of fondness for the guy. Smart move by the V dog.

Politicians always know what is going on with the people. They pay people to go out and find these things out. If the issue can benefit them they use it, if not they ignore it.
Come on look at congress setting up a panel to investigate the BCS right around time for the NC game. It's not that they care about fair play...it just makes them look good to football fans.
It's politics, this is a no lose issue for them. The NFL is not located in LA so them criticising them has no bearing on their office. The people of LA are rabid for anything Saints right now and this is the David and Goliath story...and all the Davids vote for them and if they lose the fight Goliath won't kick their arse afterwards.

well...........where can you get them

The NFL is wrong in pursuing this matter. That's the bottom line. If the Saints were not going to the Super Bowl, would the NFL have gone into Florida and sign these copyright documents on Monday after the NFC championships? Absolutely not! Are they pursuing the "Who Deys" in Cincinatti? Stand up - WHO DAT nation, the NFL storm troopers and BIG BROTHER will try to hold you down.

Not knocking the guy it's a hell of smart move because there is no way for him to lose here...it's not like he's actually going to make shirts. If he does make and sell the shirts then i might take a different stance. But right now it's just PR to get his name in the news.

For Chrissake, Vitter knows there will be exactly zero consequences for him from the NFL. What fricking planet do you guys live on?

I would love to know what verifiable info you have on this matter and what it has to do with copyright vs. trademark registration. Further, why would the NFL register anything in Florida when the USPTO and U.S. Copyright Office is in D.C. Florida registration would merely be tangential to the D.C. registration.

I guess so. But it's not like a US Senator is going to personally mount a legal attack against the NFL. So I'm guessing he'll be a cheerleader for this cause for a few days and then this whole story will fade away
David Vitter is a scumbag attourney hes licking his chops to go to the Supreme court with this because it would surely end up there and in the mean time people will continue to print them under free press and free speach granted us by the constitution

As much as I was against the NFL getting involved with the Who Dat, they did more for the town than people are remembering right now. They need to sit down with The Who Dat and talk it over.
Im afraid if it wasnt for the NFL's involvement, the Who Dat would be spoken in Spanish in San Antonio while Benson was cha-chinging. Recognize Who is the true villian and benefactor in this situation. Its a diffficultly ambivalent situation in more than one direction.
