What did Goodell honestly think was going to happen? He could have just ended all this by admitting his mistake by actually reducing the suspensions and this whole thing would be over but instead he has to deal with this in court because he is too big and powerful to take the hit to his ego. It really blows my mind how stubborn he is about this and even other things like suspensions for big hits and what not. I'm tired of this whole situation and ready to just move on but he could have easily made this go away but he refused so now it will be dragged out and I am glad the players are all continuing to fight this

Yeah certainly had absolutely nothing to do with Goodell at all.

Legit question: Why would you stick up for him?

Not sticking up for him necessarily. Just pointing out the fact that just because Saints fans are pissed at him doesn't mean fans of the other 31 teams think he is doing a horrible job. NFL hasn't ever been more popular than it has under his watch.

Honestly, I feel they think that admitting their mistake would be too embarrassing, and that they must hold the line and try everything to keep this out of court, but more importantly, keep Cerullo and Williams (and Goodell...hehe) off the witness stand.

Yes you are.

I know plenty of fans from plenty of teams pissed at him. Do you really not see that he is affecting football in a negative way?

I couldnt give less of a shite. Popularity is in no way shape or form a standard of excellence. See Katey Perry.

I think the explosion of technology allowing fans to view their teams and fantasy players from anywhere over tons of different media has a lot more to do with it.

Not really. Saints fans have bruised vaginas because they think he is picking on them. But other than that, he's been a pretty good commissioner.

Of course not. Because that doesn't help your conspiracy theory.

1. Its not just us. And he is picking on us.
2. Have you ever heard of the NFLPA? Its a small organization made up of only butthurt Saints fans that dont like Goodell. No wait. That doesnt sound right. Someone go find out what the NFLPA is. Are players involved? Do they like Goodell? I cant remember.

I dont have one. And its completely irrelevant. Goodell hasnt really done much to increase popularity, media coverage, fantasy, etc.. like someone else just said has much more to do with it. If anything Goodell is slowly alienating true football fans, which is just sad
