Pat Swilling was always my favorite from the Dome Patrol, but I grew to appreciate Johnson over time. Dude was a mack truck and a scary man.

Thanks for the memories, Vaughn.

Prayers to his family.

I can't remember who it was, maybe Roger Craig, but someone from the 49ers was asked who was the hardest hitter they've played, and he said, by far, Vaughn Johnson.

Guess I was right.

Fangio on Vaughn Johnson: “He was a great teammate, loved by everyone. He was a ferocious hitter and great all around ILB. And feared by the RBs in the league when he played. Ask Roger Craig.” #Saints

Saints Hall of Fame inductee Vaughan Johnson died in North Carolina after battling kidney disease for several years and lung failure most recently.

My dad was at Tulane about 2 years ago for his prostate seeing Dr. Thomas. We were in the waiting room and I looked across the room and saw Meat. My brother and I are huge Saints fans, but there was no way in hell we were going walk over under those circumstances. He looked like he could still play but he also looked like he wasn't feeling good at all!

RIP!!!!!

Hardest hitter I've ever seen. His signature right hand fist pump after a big hit sticks with me.

It was Roger Craig. Randy Cross, former Niner o-lineman, has good summary on what Craig said the the first time they ever played against him at the 3:15 mark.

I love the guy in that video bitching about the dome patrol being #1, whining about "did they even play in a playoff game".

First off, yes.

Secondly, Bobby Hebert...Carl Smith...STFU.

He had 18 tackles in ONE HALF of a preseason game once.
