Wonder who he was, we could make him a celebrity today if he is still around. And Damn I bet that hurt.

I bet he’s still pissed at whoever was swabbing that barrel.

Had season tickets. My grandfather was the Saints team physician under JD Roberts. The best thing about going to Saints games back then was getting to see the future hall of famers who played for the opposing teams.

1971 Saints 24 Cowboys 14 Tommy Meyers intercepted Steubach at about our 5 yd line. He jumped a slant. Place went crazy. With the beating in the bleachers it was the loudest thing I’ve ever heard. Louder than the Saints Patriots in 2009.

Went with my dad to see the Saints play the Lions. Knowing we were going to lose, we headed to the bus so Dad and his Louisiana Oil Marketers buddies could fix another cocktail. As we were getting on the bus we heard the cheers as Tom Dempsey kicked a 63 yard field goal to win it.

The brands of beer were rotated every game. Dixie, Falstaff and I think Jax. One had the 2 endzones. The others had the East and West sides. But they would rotate each week.

From what I remember, It was just Dixie and Falstaff . Dixie was on the west side and Falstaff on the east. I remember this cause my dad owned a Falstaff distributorship and I always asked him why they didn’t have his beer on our side. We sat in the NW corner..

Was one of my first stadium experiences that I recall. All steel construction made for a loud crazy ride.

The first time I heard people stomping their feet on the floor, it really scared the shite out of me.. Didn't know what it was...

Ah yes...the good ol' days.

Was the cell reception any better in an outdoor stadium?
