Look, they got screwed on that call. No doubt about it. However, let’s have a little moment of truth. Our offense has sucked for about 2 months. Since the blowout against the eagles, we have scored over 30 2 times and both of those were 31 points. Drew Brees has looked like a shell of himself after that game and had we been able to move the ball in the 2nd quarter, we don’t need the refs to do anything late in that game. Our D was good enough to win but Drew and the offense really haven’t looked the same since the Eagles game. This, way more than the refs, is what cost us the game yesterday.

I completely agree we should be in the super bowl. This topic wasn’t really about that. It was just to say that our offense really is the reason, and honestly Drew’s play lately, that we are not in the super bowl.

Agreed. The offense really regressed as the season wore on. Cowboys game forward. Defense did their job. Offense went really inconsistent bipolar

They were in position to pretty much ice the game. The chance was taken away.

Nothing in the past two months mattered at 1:49 of last nights game. Nothing.

The game was tied. Blown calls all night for both sides. That pass interference was so blatant. So instead of being able to do what they should have done the previous first down, which was run the clock and force the Rams to use their last time out. They had to give the ball back to the Rams with 1:40ish on the clock and their time out.

But yeah the previous two months mattered in that moment.(sarcasm way up)

No, it was the refs.

Why cant people realize both of these things can happen at the same time? Sure there was room for improvement. No one will deny that we havent played as well lately. However despite that, we were still in position to go to the super bowl and the refs took that chance.

Plain and simple.

Yeah the offense was average, but the saints are 1st and goal from the 5 with under 2 min left .
The Saints win the game if that PI is called.

Wow, such a cool guy! Saints had the ball first and 10 on the 16 and got 3 points! They had the ball inside the 20 5 times and only scored touchdowns 2 times! But yeah it was 100% on that one blown call! LOL! As someone else said, it’s a little of both and it’s very easy to point to that one call but I wanted to bring up another point that it wasn’t just that one call. Our offense sucked and you can’t go 2/5 inside the 20 scoring TD’s and expect to beat teams like the Rams. Obviously the no-call affected the outcome but so did the terrible offense

Of course you are right. What Drew did with a weak receiving Corp (excluding M Thomas) and an average O line was really good. If we shore up those weaknesses and get another pass rusher we will be right back in it. Unfortunately, a totally blown call killed our season. This will take a while to get over.

I agree with that! When it comes to this time of year, health is a major issue and we had some key guys hurt for this game! Not having Sheldon Rankins really hurt especially with our pass rush. I can’t remember seeing us sack Goff one time in the game. I do believe this ream can get back to this game next year and hopefully they will!

You’re an a-hole. The Saints and Rams are both great teams. You don’t get to the final 4 teams without being a great team. “Great” doesn’t mean perfect. Your opponent practices, devises schemes, plays hard too. Games can be won or lost on the thinnest of margins. Some calls are judgment calls and that’s understandable. There was no judgment involved in not making this obvious call ... other than the decision that no call under any circumstances would be made. This criminal/grossly negligent noncall cost the Saints the SB. Period.

Did I ever one-time say the saints were a bad team?? I pointed out an obvious fact that the offense hadn’t been playing as well as they had earlier in the year. This is a fact and not just an opinion or me calling them anything but a great team! Again for the 15th time, obviously the no-call cost us the game! However, so did the offense! I don’t have to be a jerk to point that out! 2/5 scoring TD in the red zone, throwing an INT in OT and getting 13 total yards in the 2nd quarter also factored into the Saints losing the game!

I hate people like you who try to spin this oh we should have taken care of business anyways take. The call happened and it cost us the game... the rest is fricking irrelevant.

So what's the discussion? That if the Saints were winning by 50, the call wouldn't have mattered?

Fine, point taken. The no call was still the reason the game didn't end with a Saints victory.

I know this line of thinking salves some people's thoughts because it suggests it was the Saints fault, but it simply isn't true. The Saints played an excellent team and did enough to win. If the call is properly made the Saints are going to the Superbowl, period. This was stolen by incompetence or bias. That is indisputable fact.

This year's Superbowl winner is illegitimate because it is clear the wrong team was gifted a spot.

It's a coping mechanism. Everything that has happened over the last month got us to that point last night. That spot was where it went wrong. Anything before doesn't matter in this specific convo.
