So how do we know the production is legit considering the level of competition?

did you ask the same of Jared Allen who played at a lower level of competition than Hendrickson?

Mayock said he has short arms. Don't want

LINK

Miles Garret 35.25 inch arms
Soloman Thomas "Has long arms (33 inches)."
Takk 34.75 inch arms
Trey has 32 inch arms. One inch shorter than Soloman.
If 33 inch arms are "long", then 32 inch arms should not be considered "short".

He's fared well against stronger comp. CUSA isn't great but it's not likes it DIV 2 or something. Jamie Collins came out of there a few years ago, albeit at LB

I don't think Hendrickson will step in right away, but we may bring him along like we did Ony last year. Though TH is a 4 year college guy, hopefully he contributes sooner than later

At the Combine, Hendrickson’s 60-yard shuttle time (11.43 seconds) was tops among defensive linemen and his 20-yard shuttle time (4.20 seconds) was second.

Did well in All Star game (someone said DPOG in East West Shrine game).

His ESPN highlight footage was vs the Florida Gators, in Gainesville. 2 sacks (including a strip sack, which he apparently also did in the Shrine game), a blocked kick, and a lot of pressures.

On a playful note- did Miles Garrett have a 2 sack game vs SEC play?

On a more serious note:
4 blocked kicks tell me he's explosive off the snap. 1 might be luck, 2 is very good; 4 means he's just embarrassing people. Doing it against Fla- that means he didn't just overpower some scrub, he blew past a legit player.

Multiple strip-sacks, against Fla again, and in the Shrine game- he's got the chop or whatever down pat. Again, 1 might be luck, more than 1 against good competition tells me he is getting there faster than expected, and knows how to chop at the arm when he gets there.

I like the sound of that, and he isn't little or slow.

With the Saints, you'd have Rankin and Fairley in the middle, and you have to think they will command the center and both guards to prevent the pocket from collapsing up the middle. You have Jordan on the other side, he's likely going to get the TE or back's attention in addition to the tackle.

You line up someone with great explosion and snap anticipation on the other side, one on one without a double coming, that could be trouble.

Usually edge players with NFL athleticism don’t make it out of the first two rounds, but in Hendrickson’s case he might have to wait until Day 3 of the draft. That’s because he’s a good, not great, athlete with almost zero experience against tackles with NFL futures. He of all players in this class could be the rare boon late in the edge class.

Let us pray

That's my biggest concern, but, we'll see.

well if his primary competition was Rivers (who played 1-AA), then this argument is moot

It's the 3rd round, far from the bottom of the barrel.

In terms of starting potential, this is about the cliff.

Tom Brady called. He said he's impressed with your draft evaluation.
