I got to thinking about quarterbacks who played receiver, and Matt Jones immediately came to mind. I'm not even sure that he will make a position switch, but it seems likely he will at least be used as a multi-tool.

I know, I know, just because he's a white quarterback from the SEC doesn't mean he has similar measurements or game. But how similar is he to a Tyrell prior, or Matt Jones, or some of the other guys who made the transition?

I don't know exactly what the plan as for him, but I know he sent video of him running the route tree at the request of our front office.

Also, multiple articles were written comparing him to Taysom... Just curious how his measurables or skill set compare. I haven't seen much of him, but I've seen enough to know that he is not being drafted for his arm talent!

It doesn’t matter. They were just taking a chance on another joker player. They saw Taysum in him and went with it. He is a guy that may be even to do some of the same things Taysum does in the event Taysum gets hurt, leaves in free agency, or starts next year. Could also see him as backup to run the offense next year if Taysum assumes the starting qb. We would need to change the offense a bit to fit his strengths so would need a similar backup

They’ll try to use him in several positions ala Hill and see what he can and cannot do well and use him accordingly.

article: No, it’s actually really hard for QBs to switch to WR

Stevens transferred to Mississippi State in 2019 after playing at Penn State the previous four years. During that time, he worked with then-assistant coach Joe Brady on a package of plays that featured him running the ball and catches passes. A few years later, Brady expanded that package with Hill in New Orleans before taking his own path to a prominent role in the NFL.

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Stevens planned to work out at both tight end and wide receiver at the Bulldogs’ pro day, which was cancelled because of the coronavirus. He still went through a virtual workout at his training facility in Florida and sent video to every team in the NFL, but he’s happy with where he landed.

We wouldn’t trade back in just for a camp body. There is 100s of other qbs that can assume that roll Without draft pick compensation. they have a plan for him. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will make the team but they wouldn’t have traded up for him with the intention of straight cutting him after camp.

Awesome athlete, but to quote Rick James...

I am of the opinion that Stevens has great measurements, and X factor for lots of opportunities, just not throwing the ball as a primary vocation

He's 250 lb, sub 4.5, and has experience shifting positions to straight up overpower defenders. He's a mimic of Taysom Hill.

Stevens will be in the wishbone formation with Hill and Winston.
