Arnold played and Ram was active but didn't play. Streif and Deuce both talked about him as last available lineman and that it would have to be an emergency to play him

That's what I thought (on Ram). I knew he was banged up from last game and they likely didn't want him in unless really needed.

So 45 of the 46 active played, which is more than usual. Only time the 6th and 7th Olinemen play is injury (or the rare jumbo package). So that's normally 44 or fewer playing most games.

My take on the game was:

1) Why not help out a coach, who’s been rumored his job was in jeopardy, when you can, and it doesn’t effect your teams position.
2) We “the Saints” have to play these guys 2X/season, let’s give them this one.

What if Payton purposely called the game to lose in a big way to show to the league that Drew was the MVP.

Sean Payton has been pounding the table recently for expanding the size of the rosters this offseason. It's possible he went into the game thinking he's already got guys banged up and with a limited game day roster he doesn't have the flexibility to rotate a lot of fresh bodies and rest his starters so why not tell the team to dial down the intensity.

He would be evicirated by the media for publicly saying yeah we didn't give a f*** about this game. I'm sure Coach Rivera gets it and would probably do the same thing if the roles were reversed but it's probably best to say the team wasn't focused and leave it at that.

I mean anyone with a brain and has watched this team play, especially the defense, has to realize they will show up ready to go for the playoffs and we don't all of a sudden suck.

We rested a bunch of guys on offense, played a very vanilla scheme on defense (was noted by Barber during the game), and played a QB making his first start in three years. Plus we got to give some young players reps. I’m not saying he threw the game, but I also think Sean doesn’t mind using the loss as extra motivation going into the post=season.

For the next two weeks he gets to remind the team how bad they played and how XYZ team is going to come into their place and smash them if they don’t get their shite together.
