I agree with the long term thinking but I can’t help myself when it comes to rooting for a shot at the playoffs. I’ve sat through far too many seasons where even sniffing the playoffs was a pipe dream.

Coaches who make the playoffs get fired every year

It’s really not. The draft is a crap shoot. I’m tired of hearing we need a top 10 pick. Building a good team isn’t about tanking anymore.

Name 1 team recently who tanked and now is crushing it? Think of all the perennial losers over the last 3 decades. They never built shite off losing.

It’s all about coaching, free agents, and scouting the late rounds. It’s not about tanking for the 1st pick.

There are way more examples of players busting than changing franchise trajectory.

But yes. Allen needs to go.

In the mean time I’ll root for wins bc I’m old now and dgaf. I just want to be entertained on Sundays.

I paid my dues and stressed for 40+ years.
Now? I yell at the TV for 3 hours then move on immediately after we win or lose.

these cucks rooting for losses so that we draft 7 slots higher (to be picked by a GM they hate) don't even get this sarcasm. That's how stupid they are.

The 2nd part of this is all that matters.

And the fact of that matter is this team is never going to legitimately be a championship team under DA.

These wins means it's more likely that DA stays on another year, which means another year of not competing legitimately for a title.

Cheering for near 0.500 win percentage is fricking retarded as are the posters who think this team's performance is acceptable.

Actively pulling for DA to remain on this team means you give zero shits about the future of this franchise.

Answer this: Does this team have a legitimate shot at winning a super bowl with Dennis Allen as head coach?

If your answer is yes, why?

You can be happy for the win but also realize it’s not good the future of the organization.

I get your point, but this presupposes that we can't get a really good player drafting in the middle of the 1st round, or you are guaranteed to get a great player drafting between 5th-10th. The only thing we know that will almost surely be detrimental in making next year harder is getting a first place schedule (which would mean playing SF, Detroit and either Dallas or Philly). That to me is not worth pulling against my team to win. But you do you.

Sure. For example, if we had signed Lamar Jackson last offseason wed probsbly be at least 10-4 and legit title contenders today with this exact same staff.

A year from now you should bump this thread and see if you’re right.

Defense aged a year more. Harder schedule. I suspect we’ll probably be sub 500.

Firing PC is the wild card IMO. Could be the difference between 5-9 and 9-5.

There's no point in rooting for losing this year. Just watch all of idiot Loomis' interviews. Excuses and cliches all over the place for this underachieving season. Allen will be back next year regardless.

Anyone that think Dennis Allen is the answer is kidding themselves and quite delusional. It’s an unfortunate situation but losing, getting a high draft pick and DA fired is the answer.

I'll take the wins because I don't trust the front office to do any better than they have now.

You’re way out over your skis. Nothing is final yet. Everybody would have taken an NFC Divisional round appearance and NFC South title before the season, and that is still very much a possibility.
