Is outright awful! How do we diagnose AFTER signing somebody!

We found out on the follow up physical.

I guess the first physical (the one before the trade) is just a formality.

This medical staff is the reason the heart issue was found.

Sounds like this condition is often discovered by accident when checking out for other stuff. You'd specifically need to be looking for aneurysms to get it the first time.

Right the new people actually saved his life. He could be dead if we still had those other two guys.

This is a reason for optimism, catching something they weren't really looking for.

Yeah sounds like they were lucky to find it. I hope the surgery is successful and that they were able to locate it in time. This is serious and 7th round pick is semantics compared to that dude getting help. I chose to think if we wouldn't have traded for him he could have died on the field in Philly. Scary stuff.

Right anyone bitching about potentially losing a 7th round pick is being a bitch. It's way beyond the point.

Do we still have to give up a 7th round draft choice?

Most of the time I can agree with this, but not in this case. We just saved this dude's life.

this is exactly it. I can give two shits about a pick that would've been cut when compared to this dude's life

Payton said they are working on rescinding the trade since it was a pre-existing condition.

Can we be potentially frustrated by losing Breaux, Fairley, AND this guy all in the same offseason after being cleared?

God, I hope people are so forgiving to me in my career.

All VERY different cases, and the people who continued to frick up and fricked up with Breaux last year and this year (and Unger and Lewis just to name a few) are gone.

Preliminary physicals don't include these kinds of exams, and honestly if the new people didn't take the extra step he could be dead. The old guys wouldn't have.

That seems presumptuous.

It's the same people who failed to do a follow up exam on Breaux for more than a week after calling it just a bruise. They ended Lewis' career by botching his surgery.

I have zero faith they would have found this.

My concern is that the Saints tend to ignore problems for years.
For example, we hired and fired a hundred DC's over the years instead of just canning the real problems (Vitt and Johnson).

Did firing Misty and the other guy really change anything?
I'm not certain.

My concern is not based on just this event either.
I'm glad this dude is gonna survive.

Pretty sure it wasn't one of the orthopedists that found this or missed it. It's just one of those things. Best possible scenario for this guy though, I'm sure he is thrilled with the medical staff.

An article from The Advocate indicated that the 7th round draft pick to Philly will be voided.

Tom Benson spends a combined $280+ million per year on 70-80 athletes that are supposed to be in peak physical condition. All pro sports teams should be much more proactive with their medical treatment than they are. I've never understood why teams aren't fighting over doctors and medical staff like they do players and coaches. The fact that the Saints have just gone with the local guys who pay them to be team doctors for marketing reasons has never seemed like a good idea to me.
