I know we had that controversial play yesterday, but this is something that I've noticed all year long. We generally don't get the play off until 1-2 seconds left on the play clock. Does Sean P do this on purpose to burn clock (noticed it in first half of games as well) since our run game is mediocre, or are we getting the plays in late?

We were (might still be) #1 in time of possession. It's worked out for the most part. It gives your defense a rest so they can perform better.

So has it been mentioned by someone that's why we do it?

I also think it's due to Brees being given time to make the pre snap reads and check with mes.

^This. It has been like this for years now. Brees isnt the only one. Watch for it in other games, specifically a Green Bay game. Rodgers runs it down to close to 0 every snap too

True but Brees has cut it extremely close many times all season. I find myself yelling at the tv for him to snap the ball about 5 times a game.

Didn't they burn a time out AFTER coming out of a Patriot time out?? Maybe they just forget when the play clock actually starts, LOL!! But they cut it way to close for sure!!

"gives your defense a rest"... except near end of close game!

Interesting irony!
