The reason that DA has not fired Carmichael is because Carmichael is his fall back fire.

DA knows that as long as he keeps him around, Carmichael will be the next to go. Once he fires him, the next logical step is to fire the head coach. So he is sitting on firing him for as long as he can.

Carmichael should do this franchise a solid and just resign. He has basically stolen a pay check for the last 2 years.

I agree with you on that.

Carmichael has been with the Saints since 2006. If he resigns, he has to find a new place to live. Rare for a coach to stay in one area for that long.

Now, I have no problem with him being fired.

This is 100% correct, a Carmichael fire today puts the rest of the year on Allen. A Carmichael fire in January buys Allen another year. It's one of the reasons he was brought back after an abysmal 2022 and retained after 2021 when he begged not to be OC. Allen is simply protecting himself by saving Carmichael firing for a rainy day.

Lol, no. If the offense is still struggling in two weeks, which it will, then Pete will be gone. If not, DA is still gone if we miss the playoffs with how easy of a schedule we’ve had. If DA is still here after the season and we miss the playoffs, then Loomis, Ireland and company would be putting THEIR jobs at risk. Mickey ain’t doing that

I seriously doubt Carmichael resigns.

And I’d be really surprised if Allen fires him.

Either they turn it around, or we get an entire housecleaning.

If the Saints don’t make the playoffs, they need to fire everyone including Loomis. Start with new GM and go from there.

This actually makes sense to me.

I believe that this is what Allen is thinking, but the expectations were too high and the division too weak… if we don’t make the playoffs, there’s no saving either man’s job.
