I'll give they aren't as good as years past, especially against the run, but overall, they've been at least solid to good. As much as I like Jordan, Davis, TM, I think it's safe to say they are more leaders now than playmakers. Our best on D has been Lattimore, Adebo, Taylor, Granderson, Werner, and I feel we have some young guys who will hopefully improve over the years I didn't name.

I do think offseason we should try and grab a good LB in the draft to eventually take Davis's spot unless they have someone on the roster they feel good about. I'd rather keep Werner where he is at. Maybe try and get a good young safety also. I don't feel our D is necessarily "old" we have older players, but they are no longer our best imo.

Davis is PFFs 2nd best linebacker in the NFL. He's still good and hasn't really showed many signs of aging.

Interesting, i didn't realize he was graded that high. I still do think he is good, one of my favorite Saints ever, he just doesn't seem to be playing as dominant as he was 2 years ago. Seemed there was a little drop-off last year (to be expected at his age). I may very well be wrong on the eye test though, if I am, my apologies.

If anyone thinks our defense is bad they should watch some other games around the league. Well, just look at the Colts.

I saw yesterday a few times that Davis and Jordan were used the wrong way.

Davis is dragging the TE on the 4th down play. He is way behind before the snap. A god QB would have recognized this and flipped the TE the ball right from the snap. He gets 5-7 yards all day long if the pass is there.

Later Jordan drops to chip a RB in the slot and then has no chance to cover the back and has no chance to rush the passer or even get his hands up, so he is lost in no mans land.

yours (and my) eye test is assuming davis took a step back.

Then I watched Werner -- specifically Werner yesterday and in fact its actually him.

I think when you look at our defense for the future we need to look to replace Maye/Mathieu soon,
Luckily it looks like we hit a homerun with Howden.
We need to replace Cam. We need to replace Davis, and we need another young DT.
So in the draft I think we could see taking a safety as early as the 2nd rd as that’s probably the most dire need to replace due to age/contract. And after that look to find guys who can be depth and eventually replace some of these guys as they age out.

Davis is still playing at an all pro level, and is arguably better than last year.

This team needs to get young at DE (again), S, and some OL talent in the draft. Everything else is a lower priority.

I’d put Oline at the top of the list. A lot of people would be pissed but if we picked Oline in 1st and 2nd rounds I’d be happy……..if the picks worked out

Davis is good and probably has at least another year, maybe two left. I wouldn’t mind taking somebody like Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the second round as a replacement in a few years though.

I love Cam, but his pass rushing days are behind him. He’s solid against the run, but he should probably move inside to DT on passing downs at this point.
