The D'amico suit against the NFL got a bit interesting.

Some of the NFL's admissions put them in a bad light.

I just wish they had used some experienced corporate litigators.

Do I think they could have won? Nope.

Do I think the right guys could have annoyed the NFL to a very high level? Yep.

Is that kind of juvenile just to want to annoy them as much as possible? Yep. And I could care less.

Absolutely NOTHING will come out of this except a little publicity for the lawyers

Someone’s gonna pop in here and say ‘so you care a little?’

Of that I am certain.

But that are attorneys that are good enough to pinprick them enough that it would piss off Goodell.

I would actually say, "how much less?"

Corporate litigators couldn't do anything more with that suit. The facts and law simply aren't there for any meaningful cause of action. Best that could come out of it is having a judge compel Goodell to elaborate his decision-making process on the record. The plaintiffs' filing in federal court basically concedes that point.

It’s important because this lawsuit forced the NFL to make a statement pretty much saying it was the wrong call. Now the saints can use that and the head official admitting the same thing against the NFL in a civil suit saying the NFL liable for money the team missed out on via Super Bowl appearance bonuses.

Saints won't she the nfl. If will only hurt them than help. By them admitting nothing happens but shows that this Superbowl is invalid

As an update the judge apparently wants more briefing over the next few days. Depending on her definition of 'few' I wouldn't hold out hope of any order enjoining the Super Bowl. As far as I can tell that isn't even the requested relief.

At this point the threshold issue is whether the case should be remanded back to state court. I think it's more likely some kind of deal is brokered that involves an independent investigation.

Won’t happen, but would be awesome if a judge ordered a halt to the super bowl. July 4th super bowl. It would ruin professional sports as we know it.

NFL will never ever allow this.

I’m amazed at how quiet the players have been. They each got cheated out of $56,000.
At the very least the NFL owes them their bonus.

I wish D’amico would subpoena to have the Rams season ticket holds names to see if anyone related to the L. A. refs were ticket holders.

I’d check out contractors to stadium, rams front office personnel etc etc.
I’m still thinking gambling interests were at the root of this.

As do I, but I think it would be much harder to get access to bank accounts than to get a season ticket list. One might open the door for the other.

Money was pretty even for the game on both sides actually. If anything more were on the rams bc the spread moved from 4/3.5 to 3. So Vegas wanted the saints to win.

And then removed to federal court. If you read the plaintiffs supplemental filing in federal court you will see near the end that they aren't really asking for Goodell to order a do-over, rather, just explain his actions/inactions.

The reality is that if the federal court takes at least a couple of days to issue some kind of determination on the remand you're looking at a one day turnaround back into state court. Push comes to shove even in the extremely unlikely event the state court orders some crazy relief a la 'replay the last two minutes of the game' the NFL would most likely ignore it and proceed with the Super Bowl.

It’s funny that the plaintiffs also work for the strong arm.

It wasn't the plaintiffs filing in Federal Court.

NFL, as defendant, and whoever else was named in the suit, had it removed from Civil District Court in NOLA to the USDC for the EDLA because of the monetary value of the lawsuit, stating it would cost the NFL more than $100 million to replay any portion of the Saints Rams game.
