re: The best part of this draft so far...

You don't think Cooks is a top FIFTY WR in the NFL?
Seriously? Well I'll just leave this thread because it would be pointless to discuss.

Because you're assuming that they are the same quality as Rankins, or that Rankins would still be on the board if we took another player...
They probably aren't, but they are close. It is widely known how deep this draft class is at DT. There are like 10 DTs right now who most draftniks agree would be top 30-40 picks in any normal year and a lot of those guys will make it into the late 2nd/early 3rd just because of the sheer volume.
This is completely untrue for WR, which is an equal need for us. There is very little real depth at the position in this draft. There were only a handful of guys who had any shot of eventually becoming a WR1. They're all gone already.
We would have been way better off taking a WR at our pick and then getting a DT in the 2nd.

Well I disagree.
Cool.
Drew Brees probably had one of the best strechest of his career at the end of last season, and Cooks was a major reason for that
quote:
I've never seen Cooks make a play 1 on 1 on the outside to beat a guy with anything except speed.
Well good thing he has elite speed. He's consistently able to get HUGE separation from corners in the nfl and flies by safeties

The guy has no chance of making a play in tight coverage.

There you go.

There are a ton of highly touted DTs on the board right now.
Nkemdiche was the only other one expected to go in the 1st-2nd who was considered to have any interior rushing ability. He's probably not even on our board.

That was probably a slight over exaggeration, but regardless, we have nobody at the position. Cooks is the only WR on the roster who was drafted. That is preposterous. There is no way we can move forward like that.
For all realistic purposes, Fleener is a WR for us.
And who cares if Snead was drafted? He's a damn good receiver

So colston was a burner?
He had the ability to run by safeties. He was an all around receiver, and his money route was attacking the seam.
Feel free to back up anything you've stated. I've already done that.

Cooks went over 100 in 3 of the last 5 games.
He averaged 87 ypc over the last 8 games of the season, adding 8 more touchdowns to it. A terrible 14+ ypc to go along with it.
It is absolutely ridiculous that people overlook how well he played at the end of the year.

I'm not doubting your stats dude. I see one year where colston avg 16 yds per catch was the same year our speed wr devery was at 24 yds per catch.
How does that not make colston a possession wr? I mean with Graham added, maybe he became the possession wr, and colston had a few more plays.
I said colston clone. 1" height off. .10 sec 40 off.
You are nitpicking. Also note that treadwell broke his ankle in two. You can't throw that out.
Colston was good. I loved watching him play.

Yes, that is what I posted.

He was a possession receiver, and much more. Feel free to type cast him as a possession receiver. He was a playmaker.
But hey, I guess Cooks is also a possession receiver. Dez Bryant must be too....
Landry is a possession receiver. Colston was an all around WR

First, that was based on Colston's combine vs Treadwell's pro day, which are always player friendly
2.5 inches shorter
Much lower vertical
16 bench press vs 12
And still faster

So he has an injury history too?
And no, I'm not nitpicking. Colston was an elite athlete, Treadwell is not. Pretty simple.

So colston in college with a shoulder and hand injury made him run a slower 40?? Cmon dude.
I missed all those go routes that colston ran. My bad.
All I have to go on is college stats for Treadwell. Are you saying he wasn't a playmaker?

Where did I say that? Treadwell is who he is, you're making excuses for him. He's over his injury.

You must have, because he consistently ran them out of the slot to attack the seam. I don't know how else to say this: colston was an all around receiver
It is an enormous part of Sean Payton's offense....

l. Are you saying he wasn't a playmaker?
He was a playmaker in college. So were Josh Reed, Michael Clayton, Early Doucet, and countless other receivers
Guess you thought that was a good point.../

My comment about Treadwell breaking his ankle one year before running the 40 yrd dash. Your reply was colston didn't have injuries too.
Sorry. Thought we were on the same page. My fault.

Now that we have gone d line in the first, I wouldn't be shocked if we took a WR in the 2nd since we've had success converting middle round tackles into all-world guards.
