We do need a WR, but Fleener will be huge in this offense. He's a glorified WR.

Cooks was 14th in yards and 14th in TDs.

Volume isn't everything. It's impossible for the team to just have 0 passing yards. Cooks is the best receiving option on the team. He's like the least burned pizza roll. Of course he's going to get some stat padding.

No one in their right mind thinks he looked even close to a top option last year. The dude has no physicality at all. No one in the receiving corps does.

Good post. Colston wasn't the subpar athlete that many think he was.

Jordan is top 10-15 at his position.

Where does the rest of the DL starters rank?

Low, clearly. You can check my post history. I think we have major needs along the DL, I've never disputed that at all.

But here we are at 26 and not one DT has been taken except for Rankins. We could have easily gotten a comparable player in the next round. That is not true for WR - there is no one close to a top talent left.

He was absolutely a top option once Brees got healthy. And it wasn't volume, he was straight up destroying corners deep

What comparable player?

Don't you think there is a reason that there is such a big gap between Rankins, who almost everyone had as a high pick, and the next DT?

Your logic doesn't make sense

Colston averaged over 14 ypc in 5 seasons, and over 12 ypc in every season except this last one. Hell, he had 3 seasons with over 15 ypc

But sure, Colston was also a better possession receiver than Treadwell ever will be. With the ability to jump and beat corners deep.

Why is that? There are a ton of highly touted DTs on the board right now.

We have no WRs that sniff top 50, yet cooks was around the 12-14th best WR last season

Well I disagree. I've never seen Cooks make a play 1 on 1 on the outside to beat a guy with anything except speed. The guy has no chance of making a play in tight coverage. He's little and weak and he shies away from contact.

He is a great complimentary WR but he isn't the guy.

Because you're assuming that they are the same quality as Rankins, or that Rankins would still be on the board if we took another player...

Saints should have definitely known that no DT's would be selected until 27 at the earliest.

Based on nothing except yards.

If you put all the WRs in the NFL in a big draft pot right now there is absolutely no chance Cooks would go in the top 15

Rankins isn't an exciting, sexy pick, so people don't like it.

He's an immediate help. We didn't do anything stupid. I'm happy.
