These specific numbers were used to make the Wilson trade work. We did it boys.

Well, but the signing bonus that Taysom is getting right now as part of the contract is real, correct? This is great for Taysom because he gets more money right now.

That's what this is, right? Give him more money now and spread it out even more for cap purposes.

If I had to guess, the team has the void option. In the case where Taysom won the job, and took his production to another level, he wouldn't want to be stuck playing for 10 million.
