I'd be interested in it if they did one that stops in Hammond.

That sounds like a pretty great idea if everything runs on time.

Amtrak's City of New Orleans runs daily between Hammond and New Orleans, but the times don't work for a Saints game.

-- Southbound leaves Hammond at 1:28 PM, gets to New Orleans at 3:47 PM.
-- Northbound leaves New Orleans at 1:45 PM, gets to Hammond at 2:45 PM.

A long time ago they used to do two buses that would leave from in front of the mall and ride people over and back for the game.

Still do. The last time I did it a few years ago it was $40.

I remember that also.. Bunch rode the bus from Hank Aaron stadium to watch Joe Horn pull the phone out after the touchdown. Good times.

It is already alot of chatter on facebook from fans in Mobile and Pascagoula about taking the train to the Saints game.

There already exists a train from Jackson to New Orleans so check the schedule. City of New Orleans runs to/from Chicago and stops in Jackson.

58 miles (by car), obviously the same distance either way

Southbound takes more than double the time to go the same distance then does the Northbound train

Southbound averages 25 mph while Northbound averages 60 mph.

I guess it’s really, really uphill from Hammond to NOLA?

I’d bet anything the train doesn’t make it on time to the station in New Orleans and you will miss the game

It's a damn sin they will not reopen Pcola to MOB and NOLA.

Apparently they are working on this and it may be up sooner than later.

Wonder if this will be popular. For example sept 7 noon home game. Train from mobile arrives at the train station at 1013 am, easy walk to Dome. Post game, train departs 430 pm. $60 round trip per person from Mobile, cheaper from MS, Save parking and gas, drink as much as you want.

Sounds like a great idea if it arrives on time. Amtrak is not known for its punctuality.
