If we have a poor start to the season. I’m talking 0-6 or 1-7.. something like that. Would you be in favor of tanking for a QB? If so which CFB QB sparks your interest?

this is stupid because the answer is easily yes to tank. qb will be the least of their problems at that point. the lines are mess. they're old at lb and safety. no real te lack of a second wr. there are holes all over the roster at that point. qb is just one of the many problem spots in this hypothetical

Let's start with the obligatory, but we have the next great preseason HOFer in Rattler & Haener already on the roster.

Outside of a legit SB run, I am all in for a complete roster flip over the next 3 years; so naturally I would be good with a tank for a QB if they really fall behind the 8 ball. However, the late bye week makes me think they will try to push their chances until week 12. So, if they are starting 0-6, 1-7 a record of 3-8 or worse should cause some heads to roll.

Regarding your question of who, I think Beck (UGA), Sanders (Colo) & Ewers (Texas) are the current odds on favorites to be the top QBs in the draft . Knowing a lot can change in 1 year, I think my favorite of the 3 right now would be Beck. But that is because he is the only one I have seen actually play and have only seen highlights for the other 2. Should catch a few of Ewers games this year now that he's in the SEC. UGA vs UT game during week 7 should be a must watch for all Saints fans if this team comes out slow.

I really like watching Sanders style with the dynamics that he brings with his game, but not sure if he's a QB I would want. Of course, every now and then it's fun to watch this board completely meltdown and we could be in the market for a top QB and a HC

I’m keeping a close eye on Ewers…Tough, sneaky athleticism, puts great touch on his throws. Only thing I don’t like is his OSU/Texas background.

Tank is a word no one uses in the nfl.
If we start that bad or worse DA most likely fired and the team will " re-set and look to get younger while remaining competitive ". We would be sellers not buyers at the trade deadline. "Tanking to get a qb" rarely works. Get a coach. Build the two lines. Go from there.

If they are picking high enough in the draft, I am sure the right coach would be very interested in coming here to continue coaching one of those young prospects

With what this team has invested along the trenches, there is no excuse for the continued struggles. They need to overhaul the college scouting department if there isn't some vast improvement. From 2015 - 2023 this team has drafted a lineman in the 1st round they drafted every year(worded this way because no 1st rounder in 2019, but used 2nd round pick on oline). 12 first round picks, 5 offensive line, 4 defensive line, Anthony, Lattimore, Olave; then o-line in 2nd in 2019.

You absolutely tank.

Fire the head coach 6 games in and promote assistant. Next, trade any valued players before the deadline. Find the new head coach before anyone else is even looking. Purge roster and acquire draft capital.

Profit.

If we start 1-7, we then win 8 straight and lose the last game that would have got us into the last wild card spot.

I don’t think flipping the roster in three years is remotely realistic. This ain’t the NBA. Tanking is chickenshit. and rarely gets what you want.

They won't win 7 games in 2024, so it doesn't matter. Team will quit on Allen, and that overpaid doofus QB.

I’m ok with giving new offen coord some rope to show what he can do
I’m afraid the brutal oline might get Carr killed

Let’s wait a year or two to totally tank and bring arch home

Flipping 100%, not a chance. But you could gut pretty much every player that currently has a substantial contract in that time frame.

As it stands, in 2026 there are only 6 non-rookies under contract (Lattimore, Carr, Ram, McCoy, Granderson & Ruiz). There is also some smoke that Lattimore could be traded before the season, and Ram will retire sometime in 2024 or 2025.

In 2027, there are only 3 non-rookies under contract (McCoy, Granderson & Ruiz)

Obviously, the first major hurdle is how much of that ~$100M they are over the cap in 2025 can be removed from the team vs extending contracts. But strategically, the timing of contracts could substantiate essentially an entirely new team by 2027/2028

we finish at 7-10, 8-9, DA is still our head coach in 2025. That's the tank year for Arch. Think of the money that would be made bringing him in to the Saints, even if he isn't a great qb...I don't think that matters at that point just because of the buzz and notoriety he would bring. I hope he's as good as his younger uncle with the ceiling of his older one.
