If he truly believes he didn't do anything that he's being accused of, why would he not deny?

I guess what I'm getting at is...
He didn't deny (right?) when the news first started reporting that he paid 10k to knock out Favre.

Why start now?

I'm sure the NFLPA was telling players to be quiet, maybe. IDK.

Pretty easy for you to say.

He's not getting paid for an entire year and is losing a year of an already dwindling playing life

Ok, then why would Hargrove admit to a full-on pay-to-injure program?

Did he believe that penalties were inevitable, so he decided to falsely confess in order to help himself?

maybe he wasn't aware of the distinction between paying for performance and paying for injuries...

Because he hadn't been punished until today. There was no reason for him to get into a back and forth with the media.

well, if payment hinged on "cart-offs" I would say that was pay for injury.

So, this is what the NFL has:

1. Thousands of documents (UNCONFIRMED)
2. Several Interviews (UNCONFIRMED)
3. Public confessions by Payton and Williams about a pay-for-performance system.

4. Hargrove's confession of a pay-for-injury system.

On the other hand, there's been no other admissions of a "bounty" program.
And there have been some flat-out denials.

Have I missed anything?

I never heard Payton admit anything

All I heard was, "the commissioner made his decision,...doesn't matter if I agree with it, it is what it is" etc.

I never heard him say anything about paying players.

In one of his quotes he said he takes full responsibility for what happened but even then he's not really admitting to it.

Good for Vilma. Somebody's yet going to force Goodell to show what he's got.

Compared to what others have actually done to hurt other players and gotten slaps-on-the-wrists for it, this is outrageous.
