quote:

Here's a statement from #Saints LB Jonathan Vilma through his lawyer (Sorry it's in all caps): I AM SHOCKED AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED BY THE NFL’S DECISION TO SUSPEND ME FOR THE 2012 SEASON. COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL HAS REFUSED TO SHARE ANY OF THE SUPPOSED EVIDENCE HE CLAIMS SUPPORTS THIS UNPRECEDENTED PUNISHMENT. THE REASON IS CLEAR: I NEVER PAID, OR
INTENDED TO PAY, $10,000, OR ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY, TO ANY PLAYER FOR KNOCKING KURT WARNER, BRETT FAVRE OR ANY OTHER PLAYER, OUT OF THE 2009 DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF GAME, 2010 NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, OR ANY OTHER GAME. I NEVER SET OUT TO INTENTIONALLY HURT ANY PLAYER AND NEVER ENTICED ANY TEAMMATE TO INTENTIONALLY HURT ANOTHER PLAYER. I ALSO
NEVER PUT ANY MONEY INTO A BOUNTY POOL OR HELPED TO CREATE A BOUNTY POOL INTENDED TO PAY OUT MONEY FOR INJURING OTHER PLAYERS. I HAVE ALWAYS CONDUCTED MYSELF IN A PROFESSIONAL AND PROUD MANNER. I INTEND TO FIGHT THIS INJUSTICE, TO DEFEND MY REPUTATION, TO STAND UP FOR MY TEAM AND MY PROFESSION, AND TO SEND A CLEAR SIGNAL TO THE COMMISSIONER THAT THE PROCESS HAS FAILED, TO THE DETRIMENT OF ME, MY TEAMMATES, THE
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS AND THE GAME.

He is mad.

I don't understand why he would deny like this.

Then again, I don't know why Hargrove would confess like he did.

Odd.

He should be mad, if true he took away a year of his playing career which he will never get back for nothing. Even worse for Vilma, some people thought this was a make or break year for him to stay with the Saints. So this really stifles at the very least and possibly could end his career. Yeah, he mad!

Putting my tinfoil cap on: In recent years, the NFL has been trying to reduce player injury, and they knew some lawsuits were coming. They figure they could help their defense by punishing a pay for performance like it was a pay for injury.

For some reason I believe Vilma and the NFLPA. I mean, I'm sure there was something there but nothing to extent Goodell is trying to lead us to believe. Or I could be biased.

I feel like I would have heard about some of this at some point if that were the case.

If he truly believes he didn't do anything that he's being accused of, why would he not deny?

the idea has been tossed around but maybe not to the point that the NFL is making shite up out of their arse as vilma is making it appear.

The players have been saying they had a pay for performance and deny a pay for injury, even today after the penalties came down. Obviously they don't see eye to eye on what happen.
