I heard some teammate tried to choke him on the plane ride home. Don't think it was just the fans

He was a below average QB.

Only season this was true for was the Katrina season.

That first playoff win, the Saints first, was at home. I can confirm, I was there. Our first away game win was this year against Philly.

really? Go look at his stats with the Saints and compare it to other QBs during hte same time period. Tell me how many more have more passing yards and TDs than him.

2001

4th in NFL in yards
5th in TD passes

2002

9th in NFL in passing yards
2nd in the NFL in TD passes

2003

8th in NFL in passing yards
7th in the NFL in TD passes

2004

9th in NFL in TD passes

Yea, seems below average to me

Let's not forget that he played injured in front of Delhomme, a player that was obviously the better choice.

...in retrospect only. Delhomme started a grand total of two games for the Saints, one of which was great, and one of which was terrible.

He wasn't obviously better at the time. At all.

Word on the street was that his teammates hated him, yeah.

Brooks' biggest sin was that he looked like he didn't give a shite at times. Like the football game he was playing was by far the least important part of his day. In fairness to Saints fans, UVA fans felt this way about him, too, and he is not fondly remembered there.

He is, at worst, the third best QB the Saints ever had though

Brooks and Willie Jackson seemed like they carved up the Rams each time we played them.

i think part of the reason he declined was because the team itself just declined.

i don't what the hell Haslett was doing the last few years he was coach. I didn't even look forward to the draft in those years.

seriously.

I'm not sure what you're laughing about.

It would be laughable to not have him in the conversation

oh yeah... the whole laughing thing.

just another reason i knew we were doomed in those days.

its like no one gave a shite.

then you had Wayne Gandy who had a fricking recliner in the locker room too?

that's pathetic

and honestly Aaron Brooks was one of the best things to ever happen to the Saints. Considering we had the worst QB play in the NFL during the Ditka era. It helped put our franchise back on the right path

he was at his best in 2003 I think.

the offense was actually pretty damn good.

Deuce was running the hell out of the ball and Brooks didn't really throw that many picks.

but it seemed like the defense just got worse and worse each year under Haslett after starting out on fire.

we lost some players in free agency, sure.

but the drafting after that was pure shite.

I underlined the key part. Brooks did it all the time. Sometimes you just don't want to see the guy laughing and smiling after giving up a dumb arse turnover and losing the game.

Agreed. The stats you posted were better than I realized. We all (well I did) liked Brooks before the Saints started shitting the bed. And to watch Haslett be married to him and not give Delhomme a chance was infuriating. Brooks was getting worse and worse, smiling more and more, and Haslett was on the sidelines giving him high fives as the Saints were losing.

Brooks refused to throw a Hail Mary at the end of the half at Carolina. She he was pressed he ran to the locker room instead of running the play called. For that alone he should get hate
