so the saints have now drafted 2 1st round rb's,

one has been a bust at RB

the steelers drafted mendenhall in the first also

oh i agree. he has big play potential that ingram doesn't. but they didn't spend what we did on him

colts drafted both of their rb's int he first.

one has been ok, one has been a total bust

i think we could get his production, immediate or otherwise, for less. that's all

I totally disagree........It is obvious that Ingram is high character, wanted to play in NOLA as evidenced by his orginal hometown, and lastly, and most important.............HE is a tone setter.

You can't argue this yet without seeing his production...........His potential due to his skill set is unreal............He can block, he can catch, and he can break tackles.........

He is Ronnie Brown at 28 but with less injury issues.........

define "tone setter"

no, it isn't

he's not that special

he's your typical 4.6, 220 lb back

he doesn't have big play potential and won't be a gamebreaker like CJ, AD, or MJD

ronnie brown ran a sub 4.4, brah

Some people are confusing talent evaluation with value.

Don't think many are saying Ingram cant be a good NFL player. Just don't think he is worth the price tag

WHOOA. WTF did we really give up a 2 this year and a 1 next year?!

Havent read the entire thread just got home but, Im with SFP on this. RBs are a dime a dozen. The falcons gave up the #27 pick and a 4th rounder this year and next to move into 6th! I feel like they got much better value. And i was pumped when i clicked back to the draft and saw we got ingram. now not as much. Would of rather taken bowers

well if we're guessing what position gets hurt, why don't we have a badass backup QB in case brees gets hurt?

thats not what you said though. you said that the top teams arent drafting rbs in the 1st. obviously they are.

i am very sure inram will be a solid, maybe good RB in the pros. he's a pretty safe pick, and should run well for nola

but i don't think he's worth what we paid to get him

Time will tell. If he ends up being a consistent 1000+ yard back everyone will look highly upon this trade.

the pats, packers, ravens, and saints have done well without relying on a running game based around 1st round picks

hell the colts are a great example of how this can go very wrong

there are tons of 1,000 yard rushers picked after the 1st round

Exactly. If he was taken at 24 you would not have heard any bitching on here. Saints could've taken him for much less. Could've taken Ingram at 24 and moved back into the 1st for less and taken Bowers or even taken Bowers in the top of the 2nd.

what if Ryan Williams or Murray end up running for a 1000 yards?

My issue is people acting like Ingram was the only RB in the draft with the talent level to be a consistent 1000 yard rusher

What is a first round this year with interest worth? Certainly more than the #1 next year.

1) Your obsession with 40 times is well documented
2) Peyton Hillis, Micheal Turner, and numerous backs don't run 4.4 40's, tone setters mean that as a unit they are going to run the ball against you physically for 4 quarters and by the time the game ends you will not want any of it.

I don't give a shite about AP he fumbled away a championship in 2009........

we gave up our 2nd this year, as well

you can look at it 1 of 2 ways

we bought their 1st this year for our 1st + interest (2nd this year)

or

we moved up from our 2nd this year, and had to pay our 1st next year to make up those spots we moved up

these guys are plentiful in the NFL. that's my entire point.

hell, look at the guy you pointed out, hillis. what did he cost the browns?
