Can't be said enough. Many fans are too ignorant and short sighted to understand this. Those young guys don't have tank in their vocabulary. If they "tanked" and they played half assed to do it, some of these knuckleheads would be calling for their heads when they finished 3-13.

I am not ready for this magical decade of football to end. I have shifted my focus to "fine with whatever happens." I would have been fine if Bucs came back to win, but didn't want to live in a world where Jameis Winston is 2-0 against Brees

I don't want to tank. I want the Saints to play hard, play some young guys to see what they are made of, and lose some really close games. And yes I am a Saints fan.

We would be able to get both of those guys. I wouldn't mind the DL from Oregon.

There are always three of four guys the media loves as the draft gets closer. But there isn't a guy worth "tanking" over this year. There are 12-15 good guys in the draft and with how bad a lot of teams are, I think we end up around 12-15.

Robinson, Buckner, Lawson, Hargreaves and maybe even Treadwell should be available. I'd love to get Smith out of Notre Dame, but he keeps climbing in the rankings.

We have so many needs that one guy isn't fixing this team anyway.

I care more about getting the higher picks in the 2nd & 3rd rounds TBH.

There isn't anyone that is a can't miss player in the top 5, but when you have a top 5 pick in every round, that is where you can really build your team

Saints always play their best when a high draft pick is on the line. Playoffs? Nah not important. On pace for the 5th pick in the draft????

I don't think Treadwell or Hargreaves will be there when we pick.

I used to be in the mindset of "Team Tank" except this isn't the NBA. You can't draft one player that will all instantly turn around your franchise. Each player's success is contingent on 10 other players doing their jobs.

Look back at past drafts when the Saints didn't have a high draft pick. There are a plethora of good players selected all over the draft.

The Falcon tards were just because we beat Tampa last year, and they got the coveted Vic Beasley. Well, Beasley sucks. Kikaha has outplayed him. Anthony has outplayed him.

We need a wide receiver but do we need Treadwell? Not really. Players like Jarvis Landry and Allen Robinson were taken late in the 2nd round.

What's important are the scouts doing their job (like we finally did in 2015) and finding good players that will fit our system. And are ready to play.

The 2016 season is not a continuation of 2015. The players and coaches on the team have no interest in tanking. This is a fan fantasy.

Frankly, I'd be more encouraged heading into next year if the Saints were to finish 8-8 instead of 5-11. It shows we got better as a team, and the young players who will be on the team in 2016 got better.

I was glad we loaded up at linebacker last year in the draft but I'm wondering how they will develop under the same ole assistant coaches roaming the sideline.

we basically got Stephone Anthony for Jimmy Graham. Yeah, at first we missed Jimmy but Ben Watson is averaging 54.8 yards receiving per game. Jimmy Graham had 55.6 yards per game in 2014. I guess the redzone production from Graham is the biggest hit. But still... its not a huge drop off. I mean in my opinion.

I still think we need to make some changes to the staff on defense but I doubt that will happen.

people point to failures at not picking good players in the draft and rightfully so but how much of that is on the coaching too? I mean we've watched WR's and TE's run routes wide fricking open a lot of the time. That doesn't look like good coaching to me. The run defense has been swiss cheese as the year has gone on too.

although with Breaux, it seems like we finally found a diamond in the rough.

Yes they do. Treadwell would give Brees a legitimate #1 WR at 6'2" 4.5ish 40 and catches everything and blocks very good. It would also make Cooks deadly. The Saints with him and Cooks would be scary.

BUT

The Saints also need D so bad that I wouldn't be upset if they got a stud DT/DE. Doesn't matter anyway as the Saints will finish 7-9 again and pick out of the stud range again. But to say the Saints don't need Treadwell is crazy.

I think it's obvious now the Saints won on the JG trade. Unger is all we could ask for and Anthony is looking like he'll be a good one for years to come. We do miss Graham in the red zone but I think they've figured that out now and Watson has been great. Hill will come on next year. And I wouldn't be surprised if the Saints grab a TE in the draft or FA.

And there is no "stud range"

Really, so there's no difference with Bosa, Nkemdiche, Smith, Tunsil, etc to all the other guys? There's definitely a range of players the Saints won't have access to the later they pick.

But you're right, I'm sure all the players are the same

One of the biggest stud DTs in the division was a 2nd round pick. Another one was in the teens. One was 3rd.

Sounds to me like making a quality pick where you're at matters a shite ton more than getting your hands on a more surefire 'stud'. The top 5 DTs/pass rushers look to be available into late teens this year.
