He had a penchant for choking

He won won 1 SB but if the PI is called he likely would have won another (Saints beat the Pats IMO).

Not saying CSP didn't get too cute at times but he had the Team in position several other times in the playoffs & the PLAYERS CHOKED the games away on the field:

Rams NFC-CG -NFL Refs: No Calls (multiple)
Vikings Minneapolis Miracle - Williams (S)
2020 vs Vikings - Brees Int/Cooks Fumble
2011 @ 49ers - 5 TO’s 1st Half & Defense cant stop Davis (TE) w/> 1 min left in the Game

Sometimes the Players just have to MAKE A DAMN PLAY - Offense or Defense

That article is a tabloid and even says none of it is confirmed. You think Brady lost a divisional round playoff game then was ready to be owner of the dolphins in 2 weeks

Edit: you didn’t even link the Boston globe article. I figured that’s what you were talking about

My take is that Peyton was consistently a top 5 coach while at the same time heavily overrated. He had a penchant for choking or making irrational frustrated decisions at the most inappropriate time

139-84 is overrated? What coach would you rather have besides Belichick? The Saints will never see another HC with that winning percentage.

You are not wrong with this as some will say. But IMO it was mostly in the early days of his regime when Brees was in his prime. Especially pre Super Bowl he would at times abandon the run game completely. Even sometimes they could be down 14-0 in the first 1st and he just go totally pass happy. He got much better in the later years.

In my neck of the woods it’s common knowledge.

Don’t know where you get your info from.

Brady and Payton were absolutely involved.

The deal fell apart.

And it not the only team he negotiated with.

“I don’t see myself coaching next year”

LOL

Nope.

Posters like you continue to deny the truth.

I don’t like obviously getting bullshitted to as a Saints fan.

Some of you seem to like it.

Winning looks nice on your resume but post season is what matters or more importantly superbowls. You can list the no call, etc... but that one play didn't decide the game, there was plenty of time left to correctit. And you can't say for certain we would've beaten the pats, what if there is another no call?

Now speaking of faces….

You need to get yours out of sean paytons arse.

P.S.

Nothing I’ve posted in this thread is incorrect.

More info has come out about this.

Payton was definitely trying to get to miami with brady.

To me it takes some of the luster off payton.

9-8 in the post season is pretty damn good. That's 17 post season games. There aren't that many coaches that can do that. As for SB's, out of many HCs there aren't alot of SB winning ones.

Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy are the same coach. They had multiple opportunities to win a Super Bowl with a Hall of. Fame quarterback and only got one each. Payton could only get the y to two NFC title games. Overrated.

You will not be liked on this board.

Most of the posters on this board have a disdain for the truth and facts.

More info hasn’t come out about it. What’s come out is rumors of writers like Florio (known to run with rumors) trying to come up with a big story.

Send some links besides the Florio piece where he states none of it has actually been confirmed lol. A player can’t be part owner. So that part is definitely out of the window
