thanks yall.
8 weeks for loomis, so who gets to make in season trades before the deadline.
how about this. who is in charge of cuts in camp right now and who makes the team?
i am guessing vitt isn't suspended until the first game? so would it be him?
sorry if this has been addressed just trying to sort it all out and curious.

I think a team is going to get him for pretty much nothing. With him and wilson playing on the same line.....
...plus when smith comes back he can play DT on pass rushing situations. It could end up being pretty sick.

Have fun with that contract. He's already losing a step, can't play the run to save his life, and gets paid like an elite DE.

idk. He had a great 2010 season. Wasn't he banged up last year?
how much does he have left on his contract

You mean the guy that just signed a 4 year 20 plus million dollar deal with Buffalo?

Campbell speculates the Colts could look to trade defensive end Dwight Freeney before the season
Freeny would be a nice player to have, but at what cost.
- I don't want to cut other players to make room for his salary.
- What do they want in return for a trade?
- Any chance they could cut him if they are desperate to get him off the roster?
- What do we do with Jordan, Smith, Freeny and Wilson all of a sudden playing DE?

To be fair to the OP, it takes a lot of effort and energy to right click in the address bar, copy the link, and paste it to a post.
Oh, wait...

That's who I was thinking, but there is a really good chance that I got the wrong guy.

ETA: Had Andre Carter resigned with the Pats? He might me good on a one year deal.

Still recovering from his injury. Most think hell resign with the Pats once hes ready to go, theyve kept a roster spot for him this entire offseason

the speculation is just that... What contenders needing some extra pass rush help might take on an exorbitant contract for that extra push?
I'm game for most anyone... at the right price. Not seeing the fit here unless they could do something with the contract implications.
Also a fine example of name recognition. Every year there are plenty of cries to trade for or sign some player that is on the downside of their career. If ya notice many of those players don't even make it back to the NFL with any team. Freeney isn't there but it's much better to go after players with upside potential- for performance but even more for the salary cap.

Let's see what our current DEs do during the first few weeks of training camp. IF we need to bring someone in, Freeney should be a consideration, if for no other reason other than due diligence.

It should be noted that mid season trades in the NFL almost never happen. If it doesnt happen in the first 2-3 weeks of camp, it wont happen

Not sure what this year's cap hit would be, but:
Also, this is curious:
On May 5, 2012 Freeney will convert from Defensive end to Outside Linebacker under new Head Coach Chuck Pagano
quote:
On July 13, 2007 Freeney signed a six-year, $72 million contract with $30 million in guarantees making Freeney one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL.
