You’re right, there isn’t much to debate. Shough has won twice (against teams with winning records) the games in a 1/3rd of the starts. Converts key third downs, can scramble and improvise, has command of the offense, and respect of the locker room. Can threaten teams with a catchable deep ball. We all just must have missed on “Spence” including Demario Davis and Cam Jordan.

The defense has held the teams to 20pts or less in 4 starts this year. Shough is 2-0, ratter is 1-1. You should win games where your defense does that.

Spencer has a higher 3rd down conversion rate.

Rattler has a few games as the leading rusher as well. Shough is a better improvisor.

has command of the offense

He averages fewer ppg than Spencer.

and respect of the locker room

Show me where spencer didnt have the respect of the locker room. Is it impossible for a team to not respect two qbs lol

Shough absolutely can. Why hasn't it led to him scoring more per game than Spencer?

The reality is that Spencer played a much harder schedule than shough, and shough does a couple of things better than Spencer.

He is not several measures better than Spencer and the savior this board has made him out to be. Not yet anyways.

He is. Anyone with two eyes can see the difference between a playmaker and a game manager.

I think you missed “key” third downs in my post. Shough has brought us back from two second half deficits and sealed the win.

fewer ppg

Garbage time

Shough is better. Accept it.

Why is anyone talking about Rattler? He’s going to be a career backup and luckily for us he’s on a cheap deal. Otherwise he’s old news

Anyone can see the difference in quality of opponent as well.

Hes played well in those games. I never said he didnt. He has also had 3 bad games. The best team we played all year is new England. Spencer played great that game.

bullshite. Very few games if any where we got straight up blown out before the 4th started.

Marginally. Accept it.

whatiknowsofar can’t help himself. Either he’s married to his take or he’s bothered by a characteristic Shough can’t change. Neither is a good look.

Again, for me it comes down to watching Shough make blocking and route adjustments at the line of scrimmage -- something that I cant remember Rattler EVER DOING. Clearly the staff trusts his ability to diagnose coverages on the fly, and thats usually the major difference between a good quarterback and a running back who throws sometimes.

Or you're too stupid to realize shough has to play better than he has been for us to be a real playoff team. I've said several times that hes done a lot of good, I just want him to be better. You should too, but you're too focused on turning this into another one of your petty squabbles.

As a rookie, and with what he has on the field, what areas need improvement?

Consistency and decision making. Hes had some wtf ints already, and ignores his checkdown a little too much when the coverage is good.

Which ones?

2 were end of game trying to do something
1 was Olave and him on the wrong page

2 were forced and a mistake.

Edit I forgot 1 of the last 2 was 1 getting stripped out of a WRs hands

They're essentially the same numbers as Spencer's prorated numbers.

The stats look somewhat comparable, but the eye test tells so much more. Shough just looks so much better than Rattler. There are no stats that show this, but the amount of dropped interceptions and/or INT’s thrown and called back by penalty, by Rattler are plenty. In contrast, some of the INT’s thrown by Shough weren’t his fault. Olave is solely responsible for at least 2, and his biggest drop that wasn’t an INT, was responsible for another win. Of course there were some drops by receivers from Rattler too, but we just can’t be watching the same games if you think that he looks more promising than Shough.

One of 2 things. You either don’t know the game or skin color has gotten in the way of your judgement. I’m fairly certain I know which one

I agree with your premise, but their actual skin color is pretty similar.
