No one should feel worse than Drew. Yet again, he put the Saints in a position to win...only to watch the defense gag it away.

Yes, you can say that he threw the interception in OT...but if the defense stops the Rams on that last drive in regulation, it doesn't come to that.
Umm... What? The defense held a potent Rams offense to nearly 10 points under their season average in regulation. The same defense that carried this team for the past 2 months.

I will be forever grateful for what Brees has done for the franchise and for carrying the Saints for so long, but that has not been the case for much of the past 2 seasons and yesterday. He was far from perfect in the NFCCG. The low throw to Thomas on the quick slant on 1st down was very costly.

I'm not putting placing the blame only on Brees, Payton, the offense, or the defense. If there is better execution on both sides of the ball or some better situational play calling, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. The fact is, we played well enough to be in the game, and the refs blew a call that cost us a Super Bowl appearance.

I honestly feel as though I have lost a loved one. I know its just a game but here in Louisiana we are often considered unintelligent or crazy country folk. We dont have a lot to be proud of here but we love our Saints as if it's our religion. Drew and Sean came here when they had every reason not to. They brought class and excellence to our team. I wanted this Superbowl for them. For them to be permanently considered amongst the all time greats as multiple championship winners. Now due to the worst non call in sports history, the legacy is forever changed. As a life long Saints fan since the 80s this feeling of depression is all too familiar. It's like pain and disappointment on an unimaginable scale was written into the plans for the Saints by the football gods.

i'm sure when i get back to the grind tomorrow at work it will help some.
Work isnt an escape for me. I work in an office with a vast mix of NFL fans that all know I am a Saints fan and want to talk about it(Miami, NY, NE, Philly, Carolina, Washington, Atlanta, Seattle) and only 1 other Saint fan. They are all kind of in disbelief about what happened but at the same time mesmerized and can take solace in that it wasnt their team. I dont have that luxury.

I agree that the defense played well yesterday. I'm just saying that when it mattered most...on the Rams' last 2 drives...they couldn't get it done. Brees could only stand on the sidelines and watch helplessly...just as he did against the Vikings last year and against the Niners in the 2011 Divisional Playoffs.

The slant pass to Thomas was one of those cases where Drew makes that throw 95/100 times. That was just one of the times where he didn't. Sadly, it came at one of the worst times in the game.

I've tried to be patient with the Taysom Hill experiment but yesterday, it bit the Saints, save for Hill catching the TD pass. There were at least 2 plays where if Hill keeps the ball and goes around the right side, he has the potential for an excellent gain. One of those times, he gives the ball to Kamara, who's hit immediately and fumbles, fortunate to get the ball back. It was especially frustrating to watch them resort to this in the red zone. It was kind of like watching the Pelicans have the ball with the lead late in a game 7, then telling Anthony Davis, "go stand over there on the side and watch while we bring in someone off of the bench to run a play."

None of this changes the fact that the non--call on the pass to TLL was a complete travesty. It does, however re--enforce the old saying...don't let the refs have a chance to decide the game.

With all that happened, in OT when the pick was thrown, and then a few plays later the rams were lining up for what should be an impossibly long fg under the circumstances, in my gut I knew he was going to drill it. Like, i felt the loss right when that no call happened. Something in the air changed right then.

That said, Yall please dont feel sorry for a professional football player. These guys dont want to be or friends, nor do they really care how proud of them we are. They collect a check with whatever team pays them the most, and hope to win to fill their ego, not to make us happy. Im upset that I dont get to watch another saints game this year and im upset with the way small market teams are fkd over repetedly by the league, none worse than us. But I was back to smiling and playing w my 2 year old son within minutes of the loss. Much more depressed about a bad duck season, for reference.

I said the exact same thing in another post

Yep, there was one play that he handed to Kamara and I'm pretty sure he would have scored if he had kept it.

Agreed but the fact that it was so blatant is what hurts the most.

Every game has at least one major turning point. Yesterday had two. One was the non--call on TLL and the other was the fake punt by the Rams. It had the same effect that the Saints' fake punt against Philly had. It gave a team that was reeling a chance to find its feet and get itself into the game.

Not good this evening. My blood glucose level is at 412 mg/dL. Been angry and stressed the past 24 hours. I might need to go to St.Elizabeth ‘s ER.

I’m doing better this year than last year. Last year was heart stopping for me. This year I’m angry. Game was handed to LA by the refs
