Taysom Hill’s offensive snap counts increased at the end of the season, and Payton remarked after reviewing the film of the Minnesota loss that he should have used him more. Hill is a unique player and an exciting one. He is popular in the clubhouse and on the sidelines, bringing a definite energy to the team and the game. He was third on the team in touchdowns (7) to Jared Cook (9) and Michael Thomas (9), with a ton fewer opportunities. I enjoy watching him play.
What does it matter if the Saints’ decided to lock up Hill for an additional year sooner than later? Would it really make anyone happy if Hill made 25% less money?
And, if the Saints really wanted to test Hill’s market value, they would have placed a second round tag on him, rather than a first. I’m willing to believe the Saints organization has a better idea of Taysom Hill’s value the next two years than a couple TD’s posters.

we operate, however, under a salary cap
