The chance of them returning the kick for a TD after you leave time on the clock is probably 100x greater than a bobbled snap
That. Leaving time for fear of "the romo play" when you have the opportunity to finish the game with such a chipshot FG is moronic.

Your mom was lucky she only lasted a minute

After Brees got the 1st down with 29 sec. left, they called a TO and had 1 left. He ran to the middle of the field on 1st down. Then CSP called the last TO with 3 sec. left to kick the GW FG. Had they bobbled the snap, it woulda been Romo vs. Seattle all over again. What should've happened was after the run by Brees with 29 sec. left, he should have done what he did next as far as setting the ball in the middle of the field on the 1st down play. Now, with 2nd down here, instead of bleeding the clock to 3 sec and using a TO, Brees should've gotten up to the line and clocked it with about 10 sec. left. Now it's 3rd down and you still have that ONE TO left in case of a bad snap. Glad it worked out though!
I thought this was stupid when the announcer said it. So are you.
You run it down to 3 seconds. Make your fg and its the last play of the game. If you stop at 10 secs and make it, then the other team has 5 seconds to return a kick, or make a hail mary, which has happened in the past.
Run it all the way down to 3 secs, and drill your kick. game over. Looks like the strategy worked well tonight.
And you suck for looking for something to complain about. A******

Had they bobbled the snap
When the outcome is consistent with >99% of attempts (ie no bobbled snap), it is referred to as 'expected' rather than 'lucky' with the converse outcome (a bobbled snap) being 'unlucky.'
I agree that we were not unlucky.

As was mentioned by the announcers, you can't even just spike it on a missed snap. You have to recover the bobbled snap and throw an incompletion close to a receiver. If they had another TO available, MAYBE the OP has a point. Not when you're using your last TO to stop the clock for the FG.

Well take my message and re-title it cuz these same people would be on suicide watch had the snap been bad!
In your scenario we kick off with 6 seconds left. I take the risk of a bad snap over the risk of a TD return on a KO.

You think of this by yourself? Of course you didn't because that dumb frick cris Collinsworth wouldn't shut up about it.
IMO, the Eagles have too many people that can score from any point on the field. I don't give them any chance to field a kick off after we make the FG. I'd rather lose the game on a shitty snap, then make the goal and give them a shot at returning a kick. By running it down to 3 seconds, you control your own destiny with the ball. Stop it at 10, then Philly controls it. frick saving seconds for a frick up. You bring it down to 3 and execute and you get the W. Not that hard to see. Stop listening to Collinsworth. There's a reason he's been out if the league for as long as he has been.

The Saints were lucky they didn't fumble every single snap IMO.

Yeah luck. It's not like they practice that everyday or anything.

I think the scenario more common when you see coaches leave some time for a bad snap perhaps ... is when the game is tied.
Then, if you botch the snap ... if you're lucky, perhaps you can get an incompletion or kill the clock. If not ... then, you live to fight another day in OT.
Or ... even more common ... is if the team still has 1 TO left to kill the clock after a botched snap.
CSP did exactly the correct thing. If a team/kicker can't execute a chip shot to win the game ... they don't deserve to advance.

I am surprised that the Eagles did not just let us run it in once we were in makeable FG range, with the way that they were able to throw at our depleted corners...let us score then have their offense try to win it for them.

If we hAd been tied, they probably let us score.
