Smart move imo. You can probably pencil him in as our #6 CB again. LINK
One of the New Orleans Saints’ free agents is signed.
On Monday, the team signed defensive back and special teams contributor Justin Hardee to a one year contract, according to a report from FOX 8 Television.
Hardee was set to become an exclusive rights free agent.
A former wide receiver in college, Hardee made his name with the Saints as a special teams coverage man, last season blocking a punt against Tampa Bay that went for a touchdown.
This season, the Cleveland native made some noise with an interception in the Redskins game that he nearly returned for a touchdown when Lattimore was out. Hardee might be a player the Saints want to develop at the position, which could use some reliable depth.
Hardee was formerly a three star recruit, according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite, before signing with the University of Illinois out of Glenville High in Cleveland.
He attended the same high school as Saints starting cornerback Marshon Lattimore and wide receiver Ted Ginn, Jr.
Hardee stuck out on special teams during the NFC Championship Game in January, helping to limit the Rams in their return efforts on kick and punt return attempts.
On a punt late in the second quarter, Hardee drew a holding penalty, fell to the turf, and still managed to run down the field to tackle return man Jo Jo Natson for no gain.
In his collegiate career as a wide receiver, Hardee amassed 841 career yards off 72 catches for a touchdown in 28 appearances. He ultimately went undrafted in 2017 before being signed by the Houston Texans. That September, as the team was making their initial 53 man roster, Hardee was cut loose.
He eventually landed in New Orleans five days after Houston released him, signing onto the Saints practice squad, and was then promoted to the active roster on Sept. 23, 2017.
Overall as a professional Hardee has 17 combined tackles, two pass breakups, one interception, and one touchdown on defense.

Good move for sure. It’s pretty easy to tell he’s well liked in the locker room.
Keep the guys together that we can and light the world on fire next year. The more guys looking for revenge, the better.

Barring injuries in the pre-season, we probably have 4 of our 6 CB's.
#1 - Lattimore (outside)
#2 - Apple (outside)
#3 - PRob (slot)
#4 - ??? (backup slot CB)
#5 - ??? (backup outside CB)
#6 - Hardee (ST beast/developmental outside CB)

Think we can resign PJ? He played well in the slot after Prob went down.

Hardee brings the swagger. Love this dude.

Depends on what he's willing to take. I think a lot of other teams are in a position to offer him more money. Hopefully the DUI drives his desirability down.
It would be nice to get him for like 3 or 3.5 mil a year at the most. Hopefully he likes playing here.

Am I the only one mad at him for turning his back on his man on the fake punt?
Posted on 2/11/19 at 5:19 pm to NOLA1128
Agree. I mentioned this in a past FA thread, but Hardee is a big asset.

No. You probably should be mad for a little while. That doesn't make a bad player though. shite happens. He's 1 of our best, if not the best, special teams players on the roster.
Not sure who our best special teams guy is, but he's in the discussion. Hardee, Banjo, or Robertson imo.

All free agents.
Hope they re-sign all.
Well, Hardee not a free agent anymore.

Hardee was playing on no sleep as his wife was giving birth to their son. I don’t like that he screwed up, but I understand how that can happen. Hardee is a good dude and his positives will outweigh that one play.

Also it was so loud he didn’t hear the check from Hill.

I legitimately did not know this. Thank you for the info.
Of course even with his mistake we still made the plays to win.
